1. Provide direct supervision and evaluation to one or more administrative specialists and three or more assistant deans of students that oversee the functions of Care Services, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and Maygarden Financial Literacy Program, and Outreach and Training; provide indirect supervision to two or more coordinators and varying numbers of student employees;
2. Responsible for the day to day operations of the Dean of Students Office including compliance, administration, operations, human resources, travel and budget management;
3. Communicate and meet with students, parents, staff, and faculty to provide support related to needs; address concerns and to assess and address concerning student behavior;
4. Serve as a student conduct officer for the university, managing high- level cases, facilitating processes, and determining final sanctions;
5. Coordinate and facilitate the Athletic Appeals Process following NCAA guidelines and policies;
6. Develop and oversee a strategic assessment and compliance plan for the Dean of Students Office to ensure that the office’s programs and services align with the critical mission of the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs and report on outcomes and key performance indicators;
7. Serve as the case manager for the Campus Care Team, ensuring ongoing student support and necessary follow up from Care Team members;
8. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws, and ordinances; remain current regarding legal issues and implications for campus conduct, case management processes;
9. Lead and participate in division and campus-wide initiatives related to topics such as hazing prevention, mental health, responding to students in distress, sexual misconduct, student retention, etc.;
10. Serve in a 24-hour on-call duty rotation, responding to crisis as necessary; provide leadership to the Dean of Students team with office crisis planning and implementation; lead the coordination, implementation and staffing of a student hurricane shelter as needed working closely with Housing and Residence Life and the University Commons and Events Services to provide students with emergency evacuation;
11. Perform risk management functions at campus events as needed including monitoring student behavior within the student tailgate area at home football games;
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.

Doctorate in student affairs, higher education, counseling or another appropriate field of graduate study and five years of progressively complex work experience in a university setting; direct experience working with student conduct programs in a university setting; experience working with students in distress, campus crisis management and response, behavioral assessment teams; experience supervising staff; working knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Cleary Act, Title IX, VAWA and other applicable federal/state guidelines and laws; staff supervision; and excellent communication skills (oral and written).
