Position Overview

Reporting to the Dean of the Gerrish School of Business, the Associate Dean provides academic and operational leadership for the School’s undergraduate programs. Working collaboratively with the Dean, faculty, and administrative staff, the Associate Dean promotes academic quality, effective program delivery, and student success.

Responsibilities include academic assessment and reporting; course scheduling; recruitment, hiring, and supervision of full-time and part-time faculty; and oversight of administrative functions supporting undergraduate academic programs, advising, and student success. The Associate Dean supervises designated administrative staff and oversees several professionals who, in turn, lead La Chanterelle, Endicott’s teaching restaurant and experiential learning classroom.

The Associate Dean collaborates across disciplines and College offices to strengthen the undergraduate student experience. In partnership with the Dean, the role identifies emerging trends in business and higher education and translates them into program improvements and initiatives supporting recruitment, retention, and timely degree completion.

Key Responsibilities

Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs

Reporting to the Dean of the Gerrish School of Business, the Associate Dean provides academic and operational leadership for undergraduate programs, advancing academic quality, effective program delivery, and student success.

Academic Leadership and Program Operations - 25%

· Oversee undergraduate course scheduling and program delivery.

· Lead academic assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement.

· Collaborate with the Dean to identify emerging trends in business and higher education and translate them into program improvements.

· Use Workday to access and analyze academic and student data, prepare reports, and inform planning and decision-making.

· Support budget planning and monitor expenditures within assigned areas in collaboration with the Dean.

Student Advising and Success - 20%

· Oversee administrative functions supporting undergraduate academic programs, advising, and student success.

· Collaborate across College offices to support recruitment, retention, and timely degree completion.

· Address student academic concerns in partnership with faculty and appropriate College offices.

Faculty Leadership and Supervision - 25%

· Recruit, hire, supervise, and support full-time and part-time faculty.

· Coordinate faculty teaching assignments and promote effective instruction and professional development.

· Foster a collaborative environment with clear expectations and accountability.

Administrative Leadership - 15%

· Demonstrated experience supervising faculty or professional staff, setting expectations, supporting development, and addressing performance concerns.

· Promote effective processes, communication, and collaboration across academic and administrative functions.

Community Engagement - 5%

· Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting major events such as Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings.

· As part of the leadership team, model a strong commitment to community engagement.

Collective Bargaining Agreement and Policy - 5%

· Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the faculty collective bargaining agreement.

· Apply relevant contract provisions and College policies to faculty assignments, workload, evaluation, and other supervisory responsibilities.

· Consult with the Dean and Human Resources on contract interpretation and implementation.

La Chanterelle - A Non-Traditional Teaching Classroom/On-Campus Restaurant - 5%

· Provide supervisory oversight of La Chanterelle’s management team, which leads daily operations, and support alignment with the School’s academic and experiential learning goals

Reporting Structure

  • This position reports to and works under the general supervision of the Dean of the Gerrish School of Business.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct reports include full-time and part-time undergraduate instructional faculty and designated staff supporting academic operations, student success and advising, and hospitality operations; internship faculty report directly to the Dean.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years in higher education or a related professional setting and that experience must be relevant to academic leadership or program administration
  • Former supervisory experience required
  • Strategic planning
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Familiarity using Workday or a comparable higher education student information system to access and analyze academic data, generate reports, and support academic planning and student success.
  • Curriculum development and assessment experience preferred
  • Student advising and retention planning
  • Interprets data accurately, identifies trends, and uses evidence to guide decisions.
  • Collective bargaining agreement interpretation skills
  • Understands protocols when handling confidential matters
  • On occasion, ability to work an evening or weekend.

In compliance with Massachusetts pay transparency law, the annual base salary range for this position is $131,000–$165,000. Endicott College considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, relevant work experience, education, specialized skills, internal equity, and external market data when extending an offer. The final salary is determined by the Human Resources Office based on these factors. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or other compensation.
