Job Profile Summary

This position administers and supervises the Academic Success Center available to students, staff, and faculty. This position is responsible for developing, managing and evaluating the department budget to obtain maximum efficiency and to promote student success. Work includes developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the management of the academic labs, computer labs, tutoring programs, and the distribution of Academic Resources equipment. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:
Master's Degree in Education, Media Studies, Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution, or any content area for which tutoring is offered which currently includes Math, Science, Reading, English, Writing, English as a Second Language, Accounting and Modern Foreign Languages required.

Minimum Experience/Training:
Requires three years of teaching experience at the postsecondary level, with a history of demonstrated leadership roles in educational settings
Progressively knowledgeable/responsible experience in the administration of academic resource operations, facilities and program development within an institution of higher education
Excellent oral and written communication, financial management and budget design skills

Essential Functions:
Daily -20%: Administers, supervises, and manages Academic Success Center personnel, computer labs, academic labs, tutoring program, and campus wide distribution and maintenance of equipment to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and operational compatibility to avoid potential conflicts within and across the departments and College.
Daily -10%: Develops, manages, analyzes and evaluates department budgets to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial and associated accounting records.
Daily -5%: Works and collaborates with the Academic Dean and Associate Deans to develop and implement policies and procedures for the division to foster a team environment to accomplish the goals and services of the division. Advises the Dean of procedural and personnel issues. Manages special projects assigned by the Dean.
Weekly -10%: Works and collaborates with academic departments to initiate, develop, organize, implement and evaluate learning strategies, best practices, projects and procedures in the academic labs to advance student success.
Weekly -10%: Maintains and improves efficiency by monitoring the budgets to approve expenditures of resources on furniture, equipment, software, supplies and part-time personnel.
Weekly -10%: Serves on campus, College and professional committees. Participates in meetings and related activities to promote improvement and change that will assist students in becoming more successful.
Monthly- 5%: Promotes and coordinates effective professional development of full-time staff in the department by encouraging participation in training opportunities in new and best practices.
Monthly -5%: Maintains current awareness of trends and developments in teaching and learning to provide the best possible support to student success initiatives.
Weekly- 5%: Evaluates Academic Success Center staff. Recommends hires and terminations of full-time staff, and reviews work of part-time staff and volunteers in the department.
Daily -5%: Negotiates and resolves disputes between students and staff to ensure a safe and academic learning environment.
Daily -5%: Communicates and cooperates with various internal and external units to develop and strengthen the delivery of programs and services to students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Daily -5%: Assists with the preparation of the budget, approves payroll for part-time and full-time staff in academic resources departments including scheduling work assignments and authorizing leave. Manages, analyzes and evaluates departmental budget and ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial and associated accounting records.
Daily -5%: Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive administrative knowledge of Academic Resources operations, policies, procedures, and personnel including but not limited to: budgeting, planning, evaluating, and improving programs; implementing new technologies; directing staff development activities; and managing student service areas.
Models inclusive excellence through specific actions that support the College's mission in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of talented faculty and staff.
Oversees and coordinates professional development plans, management and evaluation, and submits appropriate recommendations of personnel actions.
May manage multiple discipline/departments or multiple units within a division.
Works directly with contractual provisions, interpreting contract language and working with faculty to ensure contract provisions are met.
Develops and manages the academic, student or business department's budget(s).
Has full responsibility for multiple academic disciplines, units or departments.
Responsible for the protection and safe-keeping of confidential data acquired during the course of work.
