Position Specific Description

This job will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, manipulating and interpreting real time and historical power generation data from a variety of sources to uncover insights that drive business decisions.The candidate is expected to use new and existing tools to perform a combination of statistical analysis, simple logic, machine learning, when necessary to solve complex problems, create predictive models and provide useful visualization.

The job requires working with more senior Data Scientists, engineers, technicians, and leaders to understand the data so that analytic solutions are relevant, and useful.

• 30% - Data engineering, and preparation for use in analytics
• 25% - Analyze data sets to detect trends and patterns
• 20% - Develop and implement efficient AI, machine learning, statistical, physics based, logic based models
• 10% - Create visualizations and learn to interpret results for team and customers that drive insight and action
• 5% - Collaborate with other business units
• 5% - Keep up with new technologies and techniques in the field
• 5% - Consult with experts to understand data and how it translates to value

This position is responsible for developing algorithms, modeling techniques, and optimization methods that support many aspects of NextEra and FPL business. Employees in this role use knowledge of machine learning, optimization, statistics, and applied mathematics along with abilities in software engineering with a focus on distributed computing and data storage infrastructure (i.e., “Big Data”).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Develops machine learning, optimization and other modeling solutions
• Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses
• Works with big data and distributed computing platforms
• Develops software and contributes to product development
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
