Job Description

Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Schwab’s Corporate Development team, part of the Schwab Investment Platforms, Solutions, and Strategy organization, helps shape the firm’s inorganic growth strategy by evaluating and executing acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments. The team’s work supports opportunities that can strengthen Schwab’s capabilities, create value, and advance the firm’s long-term strategy.

As an Associate on the Corporate Development team, you will contribute to high-impact, highly visible transactions from initial evaluation through execution. You will build detailed financial analyses, develop clear recommendations for senior leaders and the Board of Directors, coordinate due diligence, and partner with teams across Legal, Technology, Operations, Intellectual Property, Human Resources, and Finance. This is an opportunity to sharpen your strategic and transaction skills, learn from experienced leaders and external advisors, and see your work influence important decisions across the firm.

You will join a collaborative team that values thoughtful analysis, curiosity, strong judgment, and high standards. At Schwab, we lead with integrity and service, succeed together as One Schwab, and empower employees to own their tomorrow through meaningful work, continuous learning, and opportunities to grow.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare detailed financial analyses, valuation materials, and transaction models to support acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments.
  • Develop concise, compelling presentations that communicate the strategic and financial rationale for transactions to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across Schwab to coordinate and manage due diligence activities.
  • Coordinate communications among project teams, senior Schwab leaders, external advisors, and transaction counterparties.
  • Work with business enterprises and functional areas, including Legal, Technology, Operations, Intellectual Property, Human Resources, and Finance, to analyze and execute transactions.
  • Partner with senior leaders to understand strategic priorities and identify potential opportunities that support business goals.
  • Conduct strategic industry analyses and landscape studies, and develop insightful company profiles.
  • Contribute to the team’s continued evolution by improving tools, analyses, and transaction processes.

Location & Work Arrangement: This hybrid role requires four days per week in the office and one remote workday. Candidates must live in, or be willing to relocate on their own to one of the listed locations (San Francisco, CA; Westlake, TX (DFW); Austin, TX).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of “challenging the status quo,” this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience at a top-tier investment banking or corporate development organization, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions. Relevant experience in management or strategy consulting, strategic finance, or valuation services may also be considered.
  • Prior experience supporting mergers and acquisitions transactions.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, creative problem-solving capabilities, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop concise and effective materials tailored to different audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions in a dynamic, fast-moving, and high-stakes environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Interest in building a career within the financial services industry.
