Job Description

Job Summary:

The Communications Associate position will provide support to the Communications Department of the New York Mets, specifically focused on baseball media. This role will assist in the day-to-day execution of media operations, including working with players, media, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely and high-quality communications.

This position will offer an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a variety of roles.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Media Relations & Game-Day Operations

  • Support player and media interactions, including interviews and press conferences
  • Assist with setup and operation of press areas for home games
  • Distribute postgame notes and provide research support to media members
  • Assist with press conferences, including facilitating reporter access

Writing & Editorial

  • Contribute to the creation of daily game notes used by media
  • Assist with development of the annual Media Guide, including research, data entry, fact-checking, and proofreading
  • Support writing and editing for Mets Magazine (game day publication)
  • Assist with the Year in Review publication, including content updates and proofreading
  • Support drafting and editing press releases
  • Perform media analysis and draft reports and press summaries

Media Operations & Content Distribution

  • Compile and distribute daily media clips to internal stakeholders and media
  • Monitor broadcast and digital outlets to gather Mets-related video coverage and produce clip summaries
  • Assist with credentialing operations, including preparation and distribution of media credentials
  • Monitor social media to keep tabs on the latest trends and news
  • Support media parking logistics on game days

Cross-Functional & Event Support

  • Partner with the Community Engagement team to help secure media coverage for events
  • Assist with offseason media activities and organizational charitable events
  • Provide general operational and administrative support to the Communications department including monitoring the media relations inbox

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Sports Administration/ Management, or a related field
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Availability to work nights and weekends, as assigned, based on the Mets schedule
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
