First American is looking to add an Associate Commercial Underwriter to our growing team. This position plays a key role in transforming commercial real estate experience by empowering our employees and customers to deliver next-generation solutions and results. 

This role is hybrid to the Phoenix office. We are open to considering out of area, remote applicants.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as an underwriting resource by supporting, advising, and authorizing customer personal and customers on issues related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies
  • Exercise decision making authority, according to underwriting standards and guidelines, to underwrite the issuance of the title insurance
  • Provide guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services
  • Issue underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes

What You’ll Bring:

  • High School Diploma Required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 1-4 years of experience in underwriting, title, escrow or real estate related field preferred
  • Must be familiar with real estate law, including federal and state regulations
  • Strong understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of real estate title and settlement process
  • Strong, customer focused negotiation skills with an emphasis on effectively communicating analytical responses
  • Ability to collaborate and act decisively; build relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and timely follow up
  • Critical thinking and creative solutions

This position is eligible for bonus pay and/or incentives for production or other goals.Incentives have historically been competitive for the Arizona Market.

Pay Range: $32.31 - $43.05 HourlyThis hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
