Job Description

The Associate Product Manager, Commercial Auto, Underwriting Strategy & Analytics will help shape, scale and profitably grow our Commercial Auto product and support our Personal Lines underwriting strategy. You will analyze product performance, develop recommendations, and manage defined projects that support the development and profitability of our Commercial Auto insurance product. You will also help develop, implement and refine underwriting initiatives that optimize performance, manage risk, and support the profitable growth of our Personal Auto, Motorcycle, and Umbrella products.

The Associate Product Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Underwriting, Actuarial, Product Management, Marketing, Claims, Legal and IT to execute initiatives that deliver sustained profitable growth. Key responsibilities include analyzing and improving product offerings and underwriting capabilities, with a focus on data-driven problem solving and an understanding of the competitive and regulatory environment. You will independently own assigned analyses and projects, with guidance on broader strategy and complex decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage defined Commercial Auto product projects, including analysis, recommendations, implementation coordination, and performance monitoring.
• Support the development and execution of underwriting strategies that balance risk management, customer experience, and growth objectives.
• Work with Underwriting Operations and Product Management to identify opportunities to improve profitable growth and modernize our underwriting approach.
• Support business planning through analysis, recommendations, and execution of assigned initiatives to achieve profit and growth objectives.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and gaps.
• Analyze and recommend product enhancements, pricing changes, and coverage options that align with customer needs and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Underwriting to evaluate our Commercial Auto appetite, monitor underwriting performance, and recommend corrective actions.
• Work with Underwriting and Actuarial teams to analyze pricing adequacy and apply data insights and predictive model results to product and underwriting decisions.
• Monitor product performance metrics, investigate trends and gaps, and develop recommendations to address opportunities.
• Coordinate assigned implementation activities and post-implementation monitoring for underwriting technology tools, capabilities, and automation initiatives.
• Assist with state-specific regulatory filings and work with Legal and Compliance to support compliance with applicable requirements. Monitor competitive, legislative, and regulatory developments and summarize potential business impacts.
• Analyze new and existing third-party data sources for Commercial & Personal Auto underwriting, evaluating data quality, predictive value, cost, and implementation requirements to support recommendations.
• Work with Advanced Analytics to evaluate and implement predictive capabilities that improve risk selection, identify potential misrepresentation, and support more targeted underwriting.
• Analyze underwriting rules across Commercial & Personal Auto and recommend refinements, measuring their impact on profitability, referral volume, and customer and agent experience.
• Independently manage assigned projects and analyses, coordinate with business partners, and present findings and recommendations to management.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, or other quantitative field of study; an advanced degree or insurance designation (e.g. CPCU) is a plus.
• 4+ years of experience in P&C insurance product management, underwriting, or a related analytical role.
• Experience with the broader Small Commercial product suite, including Business Owners Policies (BOP), General Liability (GL), and Commercial Package Policies (CPP), is beneficial.
• Working knowledge of insurance pricing and underwriting principles; familiarity with rate/form filing processes and regulatory requirements is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, investigate business issues, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Ability to take ownership of assigned business issues, exercise sound judgment, and see projects through to resolution while seeking guidance when appropriate.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with business partners, coordinate project activities, and follow through on commitments.
• Ability to clearly explain analyses and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
• SQL and Python experience required

Salary Range:​

The pay range for this position is $108K to $144K annually. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.​
