About the Role

The Stitch Fix Merchandising team shapes client-first, product-obsessed, and data-driven retail strategies that power our dynamic personalization platform. As an Associate Buyer, you will own a portion of the business within a specific divisional product category, managing and optimizing a high-SKU, complex assortment across multiple brands. Operating as an individual contributor, you will partner closely with Planning, cross-functional teams, and external vendor partners to develop financial and product strategies that drive sales, profitability, and inventory health. In this role, you directly impact business growth and client satisfaction by identifying white-space market opportunities and curating assortments that delight our core client.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive financial and product strategies, curating assortments across brand partners to drive sales, optimize inventory, and expand white-space opportunities.
• Analyze business performance regularly to take calculated risks, resolve operational gaps, and collaborate with Planning counterparts to responsibly manage open-to-buy budgets.
• Build strong, trust-based partnerships with external vendors and present strategic assortments to leadership and internal cross-functional teams to secure alignment.
• Perform continuous competitive market research to identify product gaps, spot emerging trends, and modernize the assortment to meet evolving client needs.
• Leverage modern digital workflow utilities, enterprise tools, and emerging AI applications (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to analyze data patterns, streamline assortment planning, and solve complex problems efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

About You

This is what you’ll need to succeed in this role from day 1:

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Fashion, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Buying or Merchandising, with demonstrated expertise in managing product assortments, driving profitability, and inventory optimization for both multi-branded and vertical retail environments.
• Strong proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Slides) and familiarity with leveraging productivity AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to enhance workflows, alongside an eagerness to quickly master new technologies.
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, solve problems independently, negotiate effectively, and communicate complex strategies clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership.
• Ability to travel approximately 25–30% of the time.

Nice to Have

• Experience managing high-SKU, high-complexity assortments in e-commerce or tech-driven retail environments.
• Proven track record of managing and balancing open-to-buy budgets alongside dedicated planning partners.
• Exposure to advanced retail analytics software or automated assortment planning tools.

Compensation and Benefits

This role will receive a competitive salary and benefits. The salary for US-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below, which includes our three geographic areas. A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, location, and performance. Salary Range

$64,900—$108,000 USD
