A little more about your role...

As Associate/ Associate Director and Birmingham Team Lead for Power Systems, you will take ownership of the local team's performance, development, and growth while contributing to the wider UK Power Systems practice. This is a senior leadership position requiring both deep technical expertise and proven commercial acumen.

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Lead and oversee the delivery of power systems studies and analysis across the Birmingham team, ensuring quality, programme, and commercial targets are met
• Act as Project Director on a portfolio of projects, providing technical assurance and strategic oversight
• Drive the development of new methodologies, tools, and scripts to improve delivery efficiency
• Champion software excellence, including building business cases for new platforms and capabilities
• Support resourcing decisions and workload allocation across the team

Commercial & Strategic Growth

• Develop and execute a clear business plan for growing the Birmingham power systems offering, aligned with the wider UK strategy
• Build and maintain senior-level client relationships to position services and secure pipeline
• Identify and pursue multi-disciplinary opportunities to expand service offerings
• Drive income generation and profitability against defined performance metrics

People & Team Leadership

• Lead the Birmingham Power Systems team day-to-day, taking responsibility for staff development, mentoring, and performance management
• Drive recruitment to build a high-performing, diverse team
• Foster a collaborative culture across offices and with the wider UK and international teams

What we are looking for you to demonstrate...

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialisation (postgraduate qualification preferred)
• Solid experience in power systems, with a demonstrable track record of leading teams and delivering complex projects
• Established network of industry contacts and client relationships within the UK energy sector
• Proven commercial experience — winning work, managing budgets, and growing revenue
• Experience acting as Project Director or equivalent senior delivery role
• Strong understanding of UK transmission and distribution networks, grid connection processes, and relevant industry standards
• Proactive, self-directed, and comfortable operating at pace across multiple projects and proposals simultaneously
• A genuine drive to build and grow a team
