Job Description

Supports the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and operational support of enterprise applications and the underlying server infrastructure that enables business-critical services. Responsible for server administration, operating system maintenance, patch management, system monitoring, application troubleshooting, and operational support activities. Partners with application owners, software engineering teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure enterprise applications remain secure, reliable, and available while assisting with application administration, incident resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer Windows and Linux servers supporting enterprise applications and operational technologies.
  • Perform operating system updates, security patches and routine server maintenance activities.
  • Monitor system health, availability, performance, and capacity across hosted environments.
  • Troubleshoot server, operating system and infrastructure-related issues impacting applications availability.
  • Maintain system documentation, maintenance schedules and operational procedures.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 operational support for enterprise applications and business systems, escalating to the Manager when needed.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve application incidents, system errors, and performance issues using established support procedures.
  • Assist with issue resolution by gathering information and coordinating with software engineering, infrastructure, vendor, and business teams as needed.
  • Support application upgrades, configuration changes, deployments and production releases.
  • Support application monitoring, backup validation, disaster recovery and operational readiness activities.
  • Assist with application lifecycle management, change management and release validation.
  • Ensure operational compliance with cybersecurity, governance and technology standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks.
  • Identify opportunities to automate routine operational tasks and improve support processes.
  • Participate in technology projects, system implementations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating new technologies, tools and operational best practices.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management information Systems, or a related field is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, Windows/Linux servers, or related infrastructure technologies; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience administering enterprise systems, performing server maintenance, patching, troubleshooting, and application support.
  • Experience supporting business applications, enterprise software, or SaaS platforms.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (such as AutoNow, Jira, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of application troubleshooting, user access administration, and incident management processes
  • Experience documenting issues, resolutions and support procedures
  • Exposure to software testing, application upgrades or system implementations is preferred
