Job Description

Are you interested in accounting, financial reporting, and supporting businesses across a variety of industries? We are now looking for an Associate Accountant to join our amazing team at our Chicago office.

Our Business Support services allow Swedish companies to outsource administrative and operational tasks to Business Sweden teams around the world allowing our clients to concentrate on the core business growth and development.

As an Associate Accountant at Business Sweden, your job will focus on delivering operational support services and fostering close collaboration with clients.

The role is based in Chicago, but you will have a chance to collaborate with our teams and clients around the world, as required.

The role includes both tactical and operational responsibilities such as:

  • Preparing financial statements and reports by gathering and analyzing information from clients' general ledger systems.
  • Preparing and recording journal entries while maintaining accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Managing accounts payable activities, including expense accruals, payment processing, and disbursements.
  • Managing accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, revenue recognition, customer payments, and reconciliations.
  • Performing payroll tax and sales tax registrations and supporting compliance requirements.
  • Completing cash and bank reconciliations and assisting with management reporting and limited forecasting.
  • Researching and responding to accounting and financial questions from clients.
  • Supporting special projects and other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as needed.

Formal requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience supporting multiple clients, entities, or business units is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with QuickBooks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

A Plus

  • Experience supporting small businesses across various industries, including manufacturing, retail, and e-commerce.
  • Knowledge of sales tax administration and payroll processing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
