AssociateScientist, R&D – Packaging Development

Job Purpose

This is a research & development (R&D) packaging roleprovidingthe opportunity to drive innovation, renovation, productivity, and maintenance projects acrossOscar Mayer and theMeat categoryunder the Meat, Cheese, Coffee, and Snacking platform. The candidate willbe responsible foreffectivelycraftingand performing tests, analyzing data, presenting results cross-functionally, and commercializing pipeline opportunities to meet business initiatives.

The ideal candidate is someone eager to learn, can follow established work plans, andcontributesto project execution with accuracy and attention to detail.Strong communication,leadershipand collaboration skills are important, as the role works closely withcrossfunctionalpartners. A foundational technical background is expected, along with the ability to apply scientific principles to new situations with guidance. The role includes managing multiple tasks, staying organized, and seeking direction to ensure priorities are met effectively

EssentialFunctions &Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of new packaging launches from concepttocommercialization, including technical drawings, material specifications,andartwork&graphics.

  • Contribute to packaging quality improvements through testing, evaluation, and continuous optimization.

  • Supporthighcomplexityprojects and leadlowercomplexityinitiatives as a proactive technical resource.

  • Collaborate withcrossfunctionalbusiness teams to advance initiatives across innovation, renovation, sustainability, brand maintenance, cost optimization, and strategy.

  • Develop, track, and manage key deliverables to ensure alignment with R&D timelines and project milestones.

  • Build,maintain, and lead updates to primary packaging specifications and related databases.

  • Design, execute, and document plant trials involving a wide range of products and packaging materials.

  • Prepare clearandaccuratetechnical trial reports and documentation.

Expected Experience& Required Skills

  • B.S.or M.S.degree in Packaging, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline (preferred).

  • Interest or foundational experience in the food or consumer products industry.

  • Demonstrated leadership potential and basic understanding of commercialization or through coursework, internships, or project experience.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% based on business needs, including visits to internal plants,comanufacturers, and suppliers.

  • Ability to work effectively in office, lab, and manufacturing environments.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Selfmotivatedwitha strong senseof ownership and urgency.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and prioritize work across both routine activities and project assignments.

  • Curiosity anda strong desireto continuously learn and grow.

Work Environment & Schedule

This position is considered aNormal office environment with moderate travel to customer locations, stores, manufacturing facilities, etc.; offices are open workspaces

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$64,200.00 - $80,200.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
