Job Description

Alkermes is seeking a highly motivated Associate Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) to support the development and execution of HEOR strategies within its psychiatry portfolio.

This individual will lead the generation and communication of evidence demonstrating the clinical, economic, and patient-centered value of ARISTADA, Alkermes’ long-acting injectable for people living with schizophrenia. This individual will also support the Head of Psychiatry HEOR on other activities across the psychiatry franchise as needed.

Working closely with cross-functional partners, the successful candidate will support a broad range of HEOR activities, including generation of real-world evidence (RWE), health economic models and assessments, payer value communications, scientific presentations and publications, and other strategic support throughout the product lifecycle.

This position reports to the Head of Psychiatry HEOR and will collaborate extensively with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, external research partners, and thought leaders. This role combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.


Alkermes has recently adopted a hybrid working environment to support and meet the needs of employees and this role will operate in a flexible environment with 60% of time in the office and 40% from home. This position is eligible for the hybrid workplace model, requiring work to be completed onsite at our Waltham, MA office at least 3 days per week. This role is not eligible for fully remote work.

  • Lead the development and execution of HEOR strategies for ARISTADA, including the generation of evidence supporting its clinical, economic, and patient-centered value proposition for payers and physicians

  • Support the Head of Psychiatry HEOR in the development and execution of HEOR strategies for other Alkermes’ assets across the product lifecycle

  • Lead and manage HEOR projects, including retrospective observational studies using administrative claims, electronic health records, and other real-world data sources

  • Support the development of AMCP dossiers, value communication materials, health economic models and assessments, literature reviews, retrospective and prospective observational studies, and other evidence-generation initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify evidence needs and translate strategic objectives into actionable and accountable research plans

  • Manage external vendors, consultants, and research partners to ensure high-quality, timely study execution while managing budgets appropriately

  • Support the development of scientific publications, congress presentations, and other scientific communications

  • Communicate study findings to internal stakeholders and contribute to training and education efforts

  • Represent Alkermes at scientific meetings, conferences, and professional forums as appropriate

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD) or Master’s degree in health economics and outcomes research, pharmacoepidemiology, public health, health services research, health policy, pharmacy, or related field required

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in health economics, outcomes research, RWE generation, epidemiology, or related disciplines within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, academic, or consulting sectors

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience executing projects from concept development through publication with minimal oversight

  • Experience conducting studies using healthcare databases and other real-world data sources

  • Familiarity with administrative claims, electronic health records, registries, or other healthcare data assets

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a matrix environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience contributing to scientific publications and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and with external vendors, research partners, and thought leaders

  • Ability to work collaboratively, embrace new ideas, contribute to shared learning, and foster a positive work environment

  • Neuroscience/CNS therapeutic area experience preferred, but not required

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $179,000 to $205,000. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus.
