Job Description

Assoc Commercial Finance Director (incl. Consumer Economics)

International Operations

Zurich, Switzerland

Shape how we invest commercially across 194 countries – building a first-of-its-kind global capability that connects financial insight to real patient impact at scale.

Your new role

This is a newly created position at the intersection of commercial strategy and financial excellence. You will lead the development of a global commercial finance excellence capability for International Operations, creating transparent, decision-useful insight into commercial investment, consumer economics and return on resources.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing an end-to end view of commercial profitability across markets, customers, channel, brand and activity-level and introducing repeatable ROI methodologies covering incremental revenue, contribution, patient reach, acquisition cost and lifetime value
  • Driving improvements in data definitions, ownership, quality and comparability across markets, while establishing governance for assumptions, methodologies, benefits tracking and post-investment reviews
  • Improve the accuracy of commercial investment and contribution forecasts, and embed insights into annual planning, brand planning, and business reviews.
  • Act as Commercial Finance Partner to our commercial units spanning consumer, HCP investments and business development
  • Partner with Marketing and Commercial Excellence on Marketing Mix Modelling, attribution and test-and-learn approaches, translating findings into resource-allocation decisions.
  • Developing a community of practice across IO markets and coaching finance business partners and commercial leaders to embed fact-based commercial investment decisions into the business rhythm

Your new department

You will sit within IO-SO Business Finance, reporting to the AVP, Business Finance. This team serves as the financial backbone of International Operations' strategic office, connecting commercial ambition with financial rigor. In this role, you will collaborate across market finance and commercial teams, Marketing and Commercial Excellence, Data, Insights & Analytics, Pricing and Access, and Supply Chain – building bridges between functions to ensure every investment decision is grounded in evidence and aimed at maximizing patient reach.

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of commercial strategy and financial analysis – someone who can build something new, influence without formal authority, and translate complexity into action. You'll bring with you:

  • A master’s degree in economics, Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics or an equivalent field
  • Significant experience in commercial finance, Revenue Growth Management, category finance, trade investment, customer profitability or commercial analytics, including cross-country, regional or global exposure
  • Strong financial modelling and data interpretation skills, with practical experience in pricing, promotions, channel economics, customer profitability or marketing effectiveness
  • The ability to turn complex analysis into clear recommendations, influence across functions, and build new capabilities, standards and frameworks from the ground up
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI; familiarity with SQL, data visualisation or modern analytics platforms is desirable
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage
