Job Shift: AnyThe Assistant Security Manager is responsible for providing guest safety and protecting the property and assets of Stones Gambling Hall by ensuring the smooth operation of the Security and Surveillance Departments through supervision, management, and constant evaluation of the needs of the company in terms of safety and security.
Essential Responsibilities
All job duties are to be performed in accordance with Company Policies & Procedures and any other legal regulations or requirements. Essential responsibilities include the following, other duties maybe assigned.
- Analysis of staffing needs to ensure budget compliance throughout the year.
- Review policies and procedures to ensure best practices of managing the constantly changing needs of the Stones Gambling Hall. Develop policies and procedures as needed to ensure the Security and Surveillance department achieves required goals.
- Ensure proper coverage on all shifts is maintained.
- Instruct, train and monitor officers in duties including customer and employee relations, report writing, procedures in handling company funds, crisis and crowd control.
- Act as a role model and coach while developing team members using a consistent, approachable demeanor demonstrating positive action, behavior, attendance, work ethic and guest service and clearly articulated expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all company and department policies and procedures.
- Promote an environment that appreciates diversity, and treats all people with respect by prohibiting discrimination or harassment of any kind.
- Ensure that team members clearly understand and are held accountable for their performance expectations.
- Prepare and present operational reports to Senior Management as requested and participate in necessary managerial meetings.
- Work with outside agencies, when necessary, such as testifying in court or participating in criminal investigations.
- Ensure guests are provided prompt, courteous service at all times following Stones Gambling Hall's guest service standards. Participate in and support all guest service training programs.
- Establishes self as highly credible leader with highest levels of integrity and always acts in the best interests of Stones Gambling Hall.
- Communicate with the Security Manager and/or Casino Shift Managers of any concerns with team members, guests, or department needs.
- Work collaboratively with all other department managers, casino manager, compliance teams, and or supervisors.
- Offer ideas that will help strengthen to security department and offer solutions to problems when they arise.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and any applicable laws. Responsibilities include scheduling, planning, assigning, directing work, reporting, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Maintains team member performance standards as required by management; addresses performance issues effectively and timely; uses strong leadership skills to set high standards and minimize employee turnover by training, providing consistent feedback, and effective accountability.
- Tracks attendance and tardiness of team members, ensuring that employees meet the company's expectations and use good judgment to make immediate decisions when necessary.
- Assess employee training needs by monitoring performance and forecasting future training needs based on Company objectives. Responsible for the training and development of officers for succession planning.
- Assist with officer hiring, promotion, and termination processes in coordination with the Security Manager and Human Resources; complete performance reviews of officers; administer disciplinary actions to security personnel and provide coaching to appropriate members as needed; observe and review the work of security officers for competency and fairness, and ensure officers remain in compliance with all rules and regulations.

- Education and/or Experience - High school diploma required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 4 years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and casino security or law enforcement experience of which 2 years must be as a supervisor.
- Language Skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills are required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to senior management, peers, and public groups.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to comprehend and apply principles of intermediate mathematics.
- Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Conditions of Employment
- May be required to obtain and maintain a Key Employee License issued by the State of California Department of Justice Bureau of Gambling Control.
- CA Guard Card - All Security Officers must have a current State of California Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Security & Investigative Services “Guard Card” and have received the proper training. Verification of trainings received should be submitted to the Security Manager. Any Security team member who does not have a current State Guard Card registration will not be allowed to work.
- Driver’s License - All Security Officers that operate a company vehicle or golf cart must possess a valid driver’s license. Security Officers who do not possess a valid driver’s license will be prohibited from operating company vehicles or golf carts.
- CPR & First Aid Certification - All officers are all provided with Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid training. Each officer will receive a certificate of training that must be renewed every two (2) years.
- Work Permit - All Officers must be able to pass a background check conducted by the Citrus Heights Police Department in order to obtain a City of Citrus Heights Work Permit. No officer will be allowed to work if they are denied a work permit and any offers of employment will be immediately rescinded. There is an appeal process, should the officer choose do to so and they must follow up with the City of Citrus Heights. The officer will be removed from the schedule during the appeals process until a decision has been made on their appeal.
