Summary:

The Assisted Living Director leads all aspects of the Vistas and Tides Programs and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being, safety, and comfort of our residents. Primary responsibilities include oversight of assisted living staff, implementation of Maplewood Senior Living standards and best practices, development and implementation of specialized service plans tailored to the unique needs of each resident, and daily staffing coordination to ensure quality resident care. This position is ideal for a clinically focused leader with strong staff scheduling and workforce management experience. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are strongly preferred.

By closely collaborating with other department heads, family members, program staff, and care staff, the Director ensures the delivery of the highest quality of care, lifestyle, and therapeutic interventions. The Director is responsible for continuous staff training, monitoring resident progress, adjusting care approaches as needed, overseeing staffing and scheduling functions, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet resident needs while maintaining budget expectations. Additionally, they liaise with families to provide regular updates, support, and education. The Assisted Living Director ensures compliance with all state regulations and works closely with Resident Care Associates to create a nurturing environment that promotes dignity, well-being, engagement, and an exceptional quality of life.

Essential Functions

Management Responsibilities

• Participates in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of all Vistas and Tides program associates.
• Oversees recruitment gateway for Vistas and Tides associates.
• Familiar with and follows Resident Care Associate onboarding standards.
• Supervises all Vistas and Tides Care Associates.
• Monitors all Vistas and Tides associates assigned care tasks.
• Develops, manages, and adjusts staff schedules using UKG Workforce Management to ensure appropriate staffing coverage for all shifts.
• Coordinates daily staffing assignments, manages call-offs, overtime, and shift coverage while maintaining labor budgets.
• Partners with the Resident Services Director and Executive Director to proactively address staffing needs and workforce planning.
• Updates communication logs, VoiceFriend, UKG contact information, RSA Assignment Sheets, and Wellness Number lists.
• Conducts monthly pendant checks, wall alarm checks, and resident weights.
• Supports payroll by reviewing daily timesheets and processing missed punches and PTO requests in Ulti.
• Performs scheduling (UKG), progressive counseling, coaching, and annual performance reviews for all Vistas and Tides Care Associates.
• Staffs the Vistas and Tides department to meet resident care needs within the approved labor budget.
• Provides outstanding customer service to residents, family members, responsible parties, and visitors.
• Ensures Vistas and Tides programs meet all state regulations and Maplewood Senior Living standards.
• Collaborates professionally with department heads to meet resident and family expectations.
• Maintains positive working relationships with residents, physicians, regulatory agencies, visitors, and associates.
• Provides ongoing communication to the Resident Services Director and Executive Director regarding staffing concerns, resident care issues, and operational needs.
• Attend weekly Department Head meetings and monthly All Associate meetings.
• Approves timecards for Vistas and Tides associates.
• Manage supplies, including ordering incontinence products for participating residents.
• Other duties as assigned, including General Orientation and RSA module support.

Care, Service Plans and Wellness

• Collaborates with the Resident Services Director on all Vistas and Tides service plans and, when appropriate, the Memory Care Director.
• Performs resident assessments and participates in pre-admission screenings in collaboration with nursing leadership.
• Participate in reviewing individual resident service plans and documenting resident status.
• Participates in weekly tracking meetings to ensure effective communication regarding resident observations.
• Ensure residents are groomed and dressed according to their preferences.
• Collaborates with the Resident Services Director to coordinate outside clinical services including therapy, behavioral health, and hospice.
• Ensures care is scheduled according to each resident's preferences and individualized service plan.
• Collaborate with the Resident Services Director to ensure prospective residents meet admission criteria.
• Provides pre-admission screening assessments per Maplewood standards.
• Ensure resident task documentation is completed prior to the end of each shift.
• Assists with facilitating family meetings.
• Leads daily stand-up meetings for Vistas and Tides care staff.
• Monitors changes in resident condition and communicates concerns promptly to the Resident Services Director and healthcare providers as appropriate.

Staff Training

• Tracks and ensures all required in-services are completed.
• Provides coaching, mentoring, and ongoing hands-on education to Resident Care Associates.
• Ensure all staff meet Maplewood training requirements.
• Serves as a clinical resource for Resident Care Associates by reinforcing best practices in resident care, dementia care, infection prevention, and safety.

Education/ /Licensure/Certification

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing is strongly preferred.
• Degree in nursing, social work, psychology, gerontology, therapeutic recreation, or a related field preferred; non-degreed individuals with at least five (5) years of direct dementia-related resident care experience will be considered.
• Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, or a senior living environment.
• Experience supervising Resident Care Associates and leading interdisciplinary care teams.

Experience

• Demonstrated experience with staff scheduling, workforce management, staffing coordination, and payroll/timecard review.
• Must possess a passion for improving the quality of life for seniors.
• Strong understanding of Alzheimer's disease and other dementia-related conditions.
• Excellent communication, organization, leadership, and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office.
• Experience with scheduling software required.
• UKG Workforce Management experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of state assisted living regulations and quality assurance practices preferred.
