IE University's School of Science and Technology invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Environmental Science with a specialization in Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation We seek a dynamic scientist whose research links gene‑ and genome‑level evidence to ecosystem‑level biodiversity patterns and conservation decisions. The ideal candidate develops and applies eDNA metabarcoding, shotgun metagenomics/Meta transcriptomics, and population/landscape genomics, and integrates these with spatial ecology and Earth observation to deliver decision‑ready biodiversity insights across terrestrial, freshwater, and/or marine systems. Senior candidates in other areas of quantitative conservation ecology will also be considered.
We value candidates eager to collaborate in applied research with IE’s Impact Xcelerator and external partners (public agencies, NGOs, industry), especially on biodiversity monitoring networks, nature‑based solutions, environmental analytics, climate adaptation and natural‑capital assessments. The ability to contribute to multidisciplinary initiatives that translate biodiversity data into actionable conservation and restoration strategies will be key to success in this role.
