The School of Music at Baylor University seeks a nationally recognized musicologist or ethnomusicologist whose active and impactful research agenda is complemented by a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. This full-time, tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor appointment will begin on August 15, 2027.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

• Teach core undergraduate music culture and history courses, as well as graduate seminars, topics in the scholar's particular field of expertise, and other courses as assigned
• Maintain an active agenda of research and publication
• Collaborate closely with musicology and ethnomusicology faculty
• Demonstrate a commitment to fostering a caring and supportive learning environment through teaching, mentorship, and engagement in student scholarly and artistic activities
• Participate in Area, Division, Department, School of Music, and University service and activities
• Engage in significant research and/or professional and creative activities within the discipline and contribute to the intellectual life and Christian mission of Baylor University and the School of Music

Appointment Date: August 15, 2027

Rank: Assistant/Associate Professor, full-time, tenure-track

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience

Qualifications

Required:

• PhD in Musicology, Ethnomusicology,or related field at time of appointment (August 15, 2027)
• Evidence of successful classroom teaching at the collegiate level
• Evidence of strong scholarly productivity and/or potential
• Experience teaching both music majors and non-majors
