Introduction
The College of Medicine at the Prince Mohammed University is committed to delivering the highest quality medical education across the country. The primary purpose of this position is to contribute to the learning and teaching, research, governance and service agenda of the College.
General Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Physics for Life Sciences to undergraduate students in medicine and other health science programs. The role focuses on delivering fundamental physics concepts through biological, physiological, and medical applications, helping students understand how physical principles underpin living systems, modern healthcare, and biomedical technologies. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to curriculum development, student mentoring, quality assurance, research, and university service.
Qualifications & Experience (Required)
Minimum Required Education / Experience:
·Ph.D. in Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field.
·Demonstrated teaching experience (at least 3 years) in physics at the undergraduate level, preferably for health sciences or medical students.
·Knowledge of medical physics concepts and applications, including diagnostic imaging, radiation physics, biomechanics, or biomedical instrumentation.
·Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
·Experience and familiarity with learning management systems and technology infused academic environments
·Commitment to student success, academic excellence, and continuous quality improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
·Teach undergraduate courses in Physics for Life Sciences using student-centered and evidence-based teaching methods.
·Explain core physics concepts, including mechanics, waves, electricity, magnetism, optics, radiation, and modern physics, with emphasis on their medical and clinical applications.
·Integrate examples from medical imaging, radiation therapy, biomechanics, physiology, biomedical instrumentation, and diagnostic technologies into classroom instruction.
·Develop and update course syllabi, lecture materials, laboratory exercises, and assessment tools in alignment with program learning outcomes and accreditation requirements.
·Prepare, administer, and grade quizzes, examinations, laboratory reports, and other assessments while maintaining academic integrity.
·Supervise laboratory sessions and ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations.
·Provide academic advising and support to students, including office hours and academic mentoring.
·Utilize educational technologies, simulation software, and learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning.
·Participate in curriculum development, course review, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
·Engage in departmental, college, and university committees and academic service activities.
·Participate in faculty development programs and maintain professional competence through continuous learning.
·Conduct scholarly research and contribute to publications, conferences, and other academic activities where appropriate.
·Collaborate with faculty from medicine, biomedical sciences, and related disciplines to promote interdisciplinary education.
