Job Description

Creighton University School of Dentistry (CUSOD) is seeking a motivated individual to support the didactic and clinical curricula of the school including patient services through the school’s pre-doctoral clinic model with specific duty responsibilities as Director of the CUSOD’s Rural Health Initiative under the direction of the Dean.

The 12-month non-tenure-track position will work with a team of dedicated faculty who are building on a rich legacy of excellence in dental education and expanding our capacity as a national resource in the dental profession. Responsibilities for the leading and mangement of the Rural Health Initiatives which includes but are not limited to the growth and development of the Acute Care and Emergency Room Diversion program along with key Inter-University, State and community partners, providing administrative support to the CUSOD Extra-mural program. This position also supports the delivery of the CUSOD curriculum, notably in the pre-clinical courses, labs and clinic as well as future development of an adolescent clinical service line. This non-tenure-track position has assigned SOD performance guidelines as a Clinician-Educator with an associated University modifier of Clinical. Funding for this position is distributed between State grant dollars and University dollars.

Primary appointment will be in the Department of General Dentistry and may include additional secondary appointments in departments involved in current and planned initiatives such as but not limited to Surgical Services and Pediatric Dentistry. Academic rank and salary will be based upon qualifications.

Qualifications

Required:

  • DDS or DMD degree from an ADA CODA accredited institution, or an equivalent dental degree from an international program combined with an ADA CODA accredited certificate of completion from an applicable specialty/program; or a DDS or DMD degree from an ADA CODA accredited institution with ADA CODA accredited post graduate certificate.
  • Successful completion of Part I and Part II of the National Board Dental Examination or the Integrated National Board Dental Examination prior to the date of hire.
  • Candidates must possess an unrestricted Nebraska Dental License or be eligible to obtain an unrestricted Nebraska Dental License in a category for which they are eligible and also acquire credentialing from applicable third-party payer systems.
  • Candidates must also possess and show documented evidence of strong organizational and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a collegial, interdisciplinary environment through assignment in formal leadership position(s).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Specialty certificate and/or Certificate from a post graduate program in General Dentistry (AEGD/GPR); or a multi-year general dentistry commitment as part of military service with experiential evidence of course assignments in clinical, laboratory, classroom teaching support of dental curriculum.
  • Leadership position with clinical and management responsibilities in dental non-profit of greater than 5 years.
  • Prior full-time or >50 % dental academic position with experiential evidence of course assignments in clinical, laboratory, classroom teaching support of dental curriculum.
