
The Department of Biology and Environmental Science at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor beginning August 2019. We are seeking a committed teacher-scholar with expertise in the area of Marine Vertebrate Biology. We are interested in applications from candidates with broad range of backgrounds, but particularly invite candidates with research interests in vertebrate ecophysiology, ichthyology, ecology, animal behavior, marine ornithology, marine mammal biology, or aquaculture.
The successful applicant will be a key contributor to the Department’s B.S. in Marine Biology Program; this is a successful and growing undergraduate program that produces high quality graduates, many who go on to join prestigious masters or Ph.D. programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses in the program including Marine Vertebrate Zoology and Introduction to Marine Biology, and to develop courses in topics related to their area of expertise. The candidate will also establish a vigorous program of externally funded research and serve as mentor for undergraduate and graduate research projects. In addition to Marine Biology, the department has undergraduate programs in Biology, Environmental Science, Genetics and Biotechnology, and Marine Affairs, and graduate M.S. programs in Environmental Science and Cell and Molecular Biology. The university also has a partnership with the Gerace Research Center on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas, where we currently offer an upper-level Tropical Marine Ecology course during the summer through our study abroad office.
Specific Duties:
