Job Description

Business Function

Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the Bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality and control, technology, people capability and innovation.

The Regulatory Governance role provides end-to-end oversight of the Regulatory Review Group (RRG) governance framework for T&O. The role is accountable for translating regulatory expectations into actionable requirements, driving implementation and regulatory reporting governance, and providing transparent management reporting on risks, dependencies, timelines and closure readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end regulatory governance: Take end-to-end ownership of regulatory requirements applicable to T&O, from interpretation, impact assessment and implementation planning through submission, evidence validation and sustainable closure.
  • RRG governance: Drive the Regulatory Review Group governance process for T&O, including agenda setting, status consolidation, decision tracking, action follow-up and escalation with accountable units.
  • Regulatory circular interpretation: Analyse and interpret regulatory circulars, directions, advisories, correspondence, supervisory observations and commitments. Translate regulatory expectations into clear, actionable requirements for Technology and Operations stakeholders.
  • Impact assessment: Lead and challenge impact assessments across processes, systems, products, controls, people, data and third-party arrangements, ensuring all affected areas and dependencies are identified.
  • Regulatory reporting oversight: Oversee governance of regulatory reporting obligations applicable to T&O, with focus on completeness, accuracy, timeliness, data lineage, control effectiveness and adherence to regulatory expectations.
  • Implementation governance: Maintain a robust implementation plan covering accountable owners, milestones, dependencies, target dates, submission requirements, closure evidence and residual risks.
  • RAG and escalation: Apply clear Red-Amber-Green status based on delivery progress, timeline risk and unresolved dependencies. Escalate emerging delays, compliance concerns and decisions required through appropriate governance forums.
  • Executive communication: Prepare concise, executive-ready papers, dashboards and presentations that clearly articulate regulatory risks, overdue actions, implementation bottlenecks, decisions required and matters requiring escalation.
  • Senior stakeholder engagement: Engage and influence senior stakeholders across Technology, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Finance, Internal Audit and business units to align interpretation, ownership, implementation approach and closure expectations.
  • Stakeholder challenge: Constructively challenge incomplete assessments, weak remediation plans, unsupported status updates and inadequate closure evidence, while enabling timely resolution.
  • Audit readiness: Maintain an auditable repository of regulatory communications, assessments, approvals, submissions, implementation evidence, governance decisions and minutes.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify recurring weaknesses and drive improvements in regulatory governance, reporting controls, tracking discipline, documentation quality and sustainability of implementation across T&O.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Law, Risk Management, Technology or a related discipline.
  • Typically 12-15 years of relevant experience in banking operations, regulatory reporting, regulatory governance, compliance, operational risk, audit or control functions.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Indian banking regulatory environment, including RBI circulars and regulatory expectations relevant to Technology and Operations.
  • Proven experience in interpreting regulatory communications and translating requirements into practical implementation plans, controls and accountable actions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing regulatory reporting, regulatory submissions, regulatory commitments or supervisory observations within a banking environment.
  • Proven ability to drive end-to-end governance, including impact assessment, implementation tracking, evidence validation, escalation and closure sign-off.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior management, facilitate governance forums, prepare executive-ready papers and simplify complex regulatory matters.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to independently drive outcomes across functions, including constructively challenging stakeholders and influencing without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability to identify control implications, delivery risks, data or process gaps and potential compliance exposure.
