Purpose of the role

Reporting into the Planning Office for Asia, this role will contribute to regional Procurement, Third-Party Management, and business transformation initiatives across MUFG’s Asia Pacific operations. The role supports Procurement strategy, category management, strategic sourcing, supplier governance, and third-party management activities, while driving programs that enhance operational efficiency, governance, and business value.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in Procurement, supplier and third-party management, with a proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier risk and performance management, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery. This role will help shape regional policies, governance frameworks, and operating standards, while leading sourcing, process improvement, and transformation initiatives across the region.

Working closely with local branches and regional/global stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive optimization, risk management, and value-creation opportunities across MUFG’s business units. Strong stakeholder management, adaptability, and a passion for continuous improvement and transformation are essential for success in this role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute third party management initiatives, category sourcing strategies that optimise and deliver TCO value in the indirect procurement of goods and services.

  • Responsible for setting and achieving performance goals / metrics to improve total delivered / lifecycle cost of ownership, quality, and services.

  • Partner internally and externally to drive supplier-enabled innovation solutions

  • Review and manage continuous improvement of operational workflows around Procurement and Third-Party engagement activities while maintaining compliance standards.

  • Update Procurement policies and tools in synergy with other functional policies to drive holistic Third-Party management and lead the education of internal stakeholders, branch Procurement teams on procedures to assure compliance and best practices.

  • Identify and achieve financial target and/or KPI(s) in supplier negotiations, driving end to end program delivery.

  • Utilize collaborative procurement for business partnering and competitive benchmarking processes to assure continuous improvements in quality, account and service performance, and maximize the value to CRL.

  • Support regional, cross-regional to global contractual relationships in collaboration with functional and procurement members to ensure effective supplier onboarding and management.

  • Leverage data analytics to monitor progress and showcase areas of opportunity in MUFG’s Source-to-Contract transformation, enabling measured improvements in third party management against key business objectives.

  • Develop internal relationships to translate business strategy to actionable program plans in third party procurement, management activities and measurable business value (cost savings, efficiency, risk reduction).

  • Influence stakeholders across the organization in envisioning enterprise value and efficiency to drive uptake success of category programs and tool utilization.

  • Ensure communication training and adoption strategies are executed to drive organization change management and mitigate change resistance risks.

  • Ensure timely updates to assure sustainable adoption of continuous improvement in processes, technology and ways of working.

  • Support close partnership with functional offices (not limited to Legal, Finance, Compliance and Risk offices) to ensure optimized outreach and management of third-party (supplier) in terms of regulatory compliance, performance and relationship management.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 4-5 years of relevant work experience in areas such as third-party management, procurement, project management, operation management, supply chain category management, or supplier management.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education.

  • Experience in the banking or financial services sector is advantageous.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office 365 suite, with strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Familiarity with procurement or risk assessment platforms such as Zycus, Ariba, Coupa, SAP, ServiceNow, as well as analytical tools.

  • Knowledge of commercial contracts or outsourcing legal frameworks is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan and prioritize tasks.

  • Strong customer engagement and relationship management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal.

  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and project management expertise.

  • Results-oriented, with a track record of effective collaboration within cross-functional teams in an international setting.

  • Skilled in developing negotiation strategies that address project sponsorship, commercial, and contractual considerations.
