The AVP, Surgical Practices & Program Development provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for APG Surgical Practices and the Center for Perioperative Medicine. This role is accountable for quality, safety, efficiency, and growth across the perioperative continuum, including the development and expansion of surgical programs aligned with organizational and community needs.

This role collaborates closely with senior leadership, APG practice leadership, surgical services, finance, and perioperative support teams to advance strategic planning, operational performance, and service optimization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide operational and financial oversight of APG Surgical Practices and the Center for Perioperative Medicine to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality perioperative services.
  • Direct practice and program operations across ambulatory & hospital settings to ensure coordinated, cost-effective service delivery.
  • Lead and develop assigned leaders and teams to achieve performance, quality, and operational objectives.
  • Partner with surgical services, finance, and perioperative support teams to manage budgets, resources, and operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, efficiency, and patient experience.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, customer service, and alignment with organizational values.

STRATEGIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides leadership for the strategic growth and long-term development of APG Surgical Practices and the Center for Perioperative Medicine.
  • Lead enterprise and service-line strategic planning to align practice & program services with organizational priorities and community needs.
  • Translate organizational strategy into sustainable operational and growth initiatives.
  • Provide oversight of major program initiatives, including robotics programs and the Musculoskeletal Service Line.
  • Partner with senior leadership to advance system-wide strategic priorities, service optimization, and financial sustainability.
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities through collaboration with referring providers, affiliates, and community partners, informed by market and regulatory trends.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field required.

Experience:

Minimum of 5-7years of experience in a healthcare-related industry, with demonstrated leadership in management and/or program development. Proven accomplishments in strategic planning, fiscal management, and clinical practice management required. Strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and organizational vision and values. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated strengths in relationship-building, analysis, financial oversight, and project management. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Required competency to be achieved within 30–60 days of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

May be exposed to typical hospital environment risks, including bloodborne pathogens, infectious disease, and hazardous substances. This role requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and crouching, and regular use of standard office equipment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Vice President, Surgical Services, and supervises assigned incumbents.
