We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President Marketing

Purpose of the role

The Global Marketing function is focused on supporting the strategic and revenue growth priorities of the Bank. The function focuses on understanding customers and the identification, development and execution of marketing strategies, campaigns and activities that support and strengthen the HSBC brand, support the drive for revenue, and increase customer value and satisfaction in order to meet agreed targets and objectives at both a global and market level.

This role is part of the Asset Management Marketing & Client Experience team where the candidate will be Benguluru-based, and part of Marketing Center of Excellence for Asset Management, while the role primarily supports institutional and product capabilities, you will be required to work across the spectrum of solutions and Products in the HSBC Asset Management business, as required.

This role is responsible for the implementation of Asset Management global initiatives that requires strong project management skills, a passion for accuracy, a focus on attention to detail, and an ability to operate systems. This role forms part of a dynamic team that spans the delivery of global marketing plans.

In this role, you will be:

  • Own cross-border marketing content by partnering with investment specialists, portfolio managers, compliance and other teams to support assets under management growth through strong internal and external-facing materials.
  • Plan and drive end-to-end delivery of high-quality marketing materials for investment products and mandates, including literature, presentations, videos and digital campaigns, with ongoing updates and governance.
  • Write and develop marketing content by turning complex financial data into compelling, client-facing narratives and clear messaging.
  • Increase visibility of key investment capabilities by working closely with investment specialists and portfolio managers and supporting engagement with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with client-facing teams across the network to understand segment needs and interests, and translate those needs into clear, relevant messages and marketing materials.
  • Deliver marketing channel activity by supporting campaigns across traditional, social and digital channels (including the website), as well as events, partnerships and collateral, to boost HSBC Asset Management’s profile with wholesale and institutional clients; track market and competitor activity on cross-border capabilities and coordinate ad hoc market and fund updates as needed.
  • Manage marketing operations and third-party vendors including creative agencies, third-party content creators, media planners, production houses and event organisers; build and manage marketing internal communications, dashboards and other record keeping of activities; handle project reporting to meet business needs and build reports that support better decision-making.
  • Maintain strong controls, teamwork and culture by addressing compliance feedback promptly and maintaining proper logs for audit purposes, recognising gaps and driving process improvements to improve service level agreements, following agreed processes and controls to spot and reduce risks and escalating control or reputational issues quickly when needed; operate as an individual contributor who is a flexible team player able to work across teams on cross-functional projects, support achievement of the HSBC vision, values, goals and culture in personal behaviour, actions and decision making, help agencies and partners understand HSBC values while developing initiatives, and work collaboratively within marketing and proposition teams.

To be successful you will be:

  • Post-graduation in marketing or finance.
  • Around 8 years of experience in the marketing space within asset management or a similar financial services company, with product marketing experience compulsory.
  • Strong understanding of the asset management industry, including investment products, investment capabilities and asset classes.
  • Ability to work through complex processes and procedures, with experience of working in a regulated industry and adhering to complex procedures and processes.
  • Strong project management capability to move initiatives forward in a cross-functional and matrixed operations organisational model, with a flexible and proactive attitude to respond effectively to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Design-oriented approach to build compelling slides and other marketing materials, keeping end users and the audience in mind; supported by very good presentation skills and the ability to depict complexity and support a thesis.
  • Marketing technology and digital capability, including experience with SharePoint, Seismic preferred, a basic level of knowledge in digital marketing, and experience using Artificial Intelligence tools preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and people skills, including being a proven team player able to work with globally distributed teams and influence across multiple teams, communicate clearly and accurately with stakeholders, partners and colleagues, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and people management capabilities; self-starter who can work collaboratively, influence and motivate others, and thrive in a diverse work environment.
