PURPOSE
- Own and formulate the approach to identify priority, high-impact opportunity spaces — both within FWD and in the external health tech and insurtech market — and to evaluate, pilot and scale health-innovation opportunities (AI-enabled claims, digital health journeys, enrolment automation, provider enablement) for Tier A and Tier B markets.
- Own the build-and-transfer model that converts innovation into reusable capability adopted across markets.
- Lead and develop a team to lead capability building in Tier B markets while providing SME support to Tier A.
KEY ACCOUNTAIBILITIES
- Scan the health-tech, insurtech, AI-health, provider-tech, claims-automation, digital-health and enrolment-technology landscape, and build a pipeline of vendors, start-ups and venture-style opportunities.
- Identify priority and potentially high-impact opportunity spaces within FWD — partnering with markets and Group functions to surface internal pain-points, capability gaps and value pools where innovation can deliver the greatest impact — and prioritise the pipeline accordingly.
- Build the investment, venture and business cases for prioritised opportunities, and maintain a structured innovation funnel with stage-gates and decision criteria — evaluating venture opportunities against value, scalability, market readiness, complexity, regulatory fit, customer impact and adoption potential.
- Design and run controlled pilots with defined success metrics — AI-powered health claims, predictive analytics, digital health journeys, automated fraud, waste and abuse (FWA) detection, enrolment automation and provider-workflow improvement.
- Own the build-and-transfer model and develop reusable standards (e-submission, auto-underwriting rules, enrolment workflows, health data models, ICD/CPT mapping, provider portals, dashboards); run capability-maturity assessments.
- Structure and govern partnership and venture relationships, including partnership models with start-ups — covering due diligence, commercial terms, contracting and performance management — in line with FWD policies.
- Lead Tier B technology and data capability building and digital ways of working through training, implementation guides and capability assessments.
- Partner with corporate venture, technology, data, claims, clinical and distribution teams to convert health-tech and insurtech scanning into practical business use cases, and report pipeline progress and value realisation to the Group Head of Health.
- Lead and develop the innovation team and partner network, coaching members and market teams to adopt emerging technologies and new ways of working.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in health technology, insurtech, digital health, innovation or venture / partnerships, with multi-market delivery.
- Proven experience scaling tech-enabled capability in insurance or health and developing high-performing teams.
- Proven experience evaluating venture and innovation opportunities and building investment, venture and business cases.
- Significant knowledge and cultural understanding of Asia health markets.
- Demonstrated experience taking health-tech or digital-health solutions from evaluation through pilot to scaled adoption across markets.
- Experience working with corporate venture, technology and data functions and structuring partnerships with external vendors and start-ups, including early-stage partnership models.
KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Comprehensive knowledge of the health-tech, insurtech and AI-claims landscape; pilot design and scaling.
- Data models and interoperability (ICD/CPT, FHIR).
- Strong command of investment-case, venture-case and business-case development and the evaluation of venture opportunities.
- Understanding of partnership models, particularly with start-ups and early-stage ventures.
- Strong ability to demonstrate how a solution can solve customer and business problems and create sustainable value.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AI / analytics applied to claims, underwriting and customer journeys, including model-risk and governance considerations.
- Strong understanding of enrolment, e-submission and auto-underwriting workflows and the data standards that enable them.
- Ability to assess regulatory and data-privacy fit for new health-technology solutions across Asian markets.
