Job Description

Job Purpose *

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and support the delivery of technology changes while ensuring stable and effective application support for production systems. The role focuses on delivering high-quality solutions that align with business objectives and customer expectations.

This position requires active involvement across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and production support. The incumbent will translate business requirements into clear and well-defined technical specifications and deliver robust, optimized, secure, and well-documented solutions.

The role also requires strong hands-on technical capability, including the ability to develop solutions with minimal reliance on third-party frameworks where appropriate, as well as adaptability to learn and apply new programming languages, tools, and technologies as needed. A proactive mindset toward automation, performance improvement, and operational efficiency is essential.

In addition, the incumbent is expected to provide technical leadership and guidance, including effort estimation, solution consultation, code review, and support in resolving complex production issues. Collaboration with application support teams and relevant stakeholders is critical to ensure timely delivery, effective incident resolution, and continuous improvement of system stability and performance.

Key Responsibilities * 1. Development & BAU Support

• Lead and support DTF system development, enhancements, and production defect fixes across the full SDLC (requirements to deployment and support).

• Perform hands-on coding, technical design, and ensure solutions are robust, secure, and aligned with standards.

• Provide L2/L3 BAU production support, including incident, problem, and service request resolution within SLA.

• Participate in on-call support and handle critical production issues, including troubleshooting and permanent fixes.

• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and collaborate with vendors and internal teams for issue resolution and prevention.

• Manage deployment and release activities across DEV, SIT, UAT, PROD, and DR environments.

• Ensure system stability through proactive monitoring, risk identification, and preventive actions.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

• Conduct knowledge transfer and support readiness before production releases.

• Participate in CAB meeting and ensure compliance with change management processes.

• Work closely with stakeholders (support, infra, QA, business) to ensure smooth operations and delivery.

• Engage with business users and stakeholders to gather, clarify, and analyse requirements for new features, enhancements, and production fixes.

• Lead and/or prepare Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) and detailed technical design documents, ensuring alignment with Group Project Life Cycle (GPLC) process.

• Design, develop, and maintain application components including:

o Reports, advices, and customer/business statements

o Interface files to downstream systems (e.g., BDW, EIS, GFMS)

o Batch jobs, scripts, scheduling, and configuration activities

• Develop and support system integrations, including online interfaces (web services, MQ messaging) and J2EE-based application components/screens.

• Perform hands-on application development, including coding, debugging, and enhancement of existing functionalities.

• Lead and support full testing lifecycle activities, including:

o Unit Testing and System Testing

o SIT and UAT support, including defect analysis and resolution

• Support deployment and release management activities across environments (DEV, SIT, UAT, PROD, DR), including check-in/check-out, version control, and release coordination.

• Ensure all deliverables comply with required documentation standards, development guidelines, version control policies, and change/release management processes.

• Provide technical support during and after deployment to ensure smooth production rollout and early life support stability. • 10+ years of Java/J2EE development experience.

• 5+ years leading development teams or technical workstreams.

• Experience delivering applications using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and JBoss.

• Experience in technical design, code review, and solution architecture.

• Experience supporting production systems, including incident management and RCA.

• Experience with SQL Server/MySQL, performance tuning, and database troubleshooting.

• Experience in release management, deployment activities, and change governance.

• Experience integrating applications using REST, SOAP, JMS, or MQ.

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in a technical lead or senior developer capacity.

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and architecture designs.

• Experience in technical design reviews, code reviews, effort estimation, and development governance.

• Proven ability to mentor and guide developers and support teams. 2. Software Development & Delivery

• Minimum 5 years of experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

• Hands-on experience in application development, testing, deployment, and production rollout.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and release management processes. 3. Testing & Quality Assurance

• Experience with unit, integration, system, and performance testing.

• Familiarity with testing tools such as JUnit, JMeter, Selenium, or equivalent. 4. Production Support & Operations

• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting mission-critical production systems, preferably within banking or financial services.

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

• Familiarity with ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

• Experience supporting production releases, disaster recovery exercises, and on-call support. 5. Integration & Enterprise Systems

• Strong experience with REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, JMS, IBM MQ, SFTP, and file-based integrations.

• Experience integrating with downstream systems, middleware platforms, and external vendors. 6. Domain Knowledge

• Banking or Trade Finance system experience is highly desirable.

• Understanding of regulatory, audit, security, and operational requirements within the financial services industry. 7. Personal Attributes
