This Opportunity
WSP is seeking an experienced Vice President, Electrification Strategy & Mobility Technology to join our growing Energy Technology & Innovation business in Detroit, MI.
This role focuses on supporting clients across:
- Passenger vehicles

- Advanced mobility and energy technology sectors
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in EV charging technologies, electrified powertrain development, product strategy, value engineering, technology road mapping, and market growth strategy.
This individual will help clients develop and commercialize next-generation technologies while driving growth for WSP's electrification and mobility consulting practice.
Your Impact
Electrification & Powertrain Advisory
- Lead consulting engagements focused on electrification strategy and mobility technology development.
- Advise clients on EV powertrain architectures, charging technologies, propulsion systems, energy storage integration, and vehicle electrification strategies.
- Support technology development efforts from concept through commercialization.
- Provide technical leadership in vehicle electrification, charging systems, and advanced mobility technologies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and help clients identify strategic investment opportunities.
EV Charging & Infrastructure Strategy
- Support development of EV charging strategies for OEMs, suppliers, fleet operators, infrastructure developers, and technology companies.
- Assess charging technologies, market adoption trends, customer requirements, and competitive landscapes.
- Advise clients on charging ecosystem development, interoperability, deployment strategies, and business models.
- Develop implementation and growth roadmaps supporting market expansion.
Product Strategy & Technology Roadmapping
- Develop technology roadmaps that align engineering investments with business objectives.
- Facilitate strategic planning sessions with executive and engineering stakeholders.
- Assess technology maturity, competitive positioning, and commercialization opportunities.
- Support clients in identifying future product and technology investments.
- Translate market trends into actionable product development strategies.
Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE)
- Lead VAVE initiatives focused on cost optimization and product competitiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve product value while maintaining performance, quality, and customer requirements.
- Support design-to-cost, manufacturing optimization, and product cost reduction efforts.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops involving engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and product management teams.
Market Growth & Commercial Strategy
- Develop market entry and growth strategies for electrification and mobility technologies.
- Conduct market assessments, competitive analyses, and opportunity evaluations.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic investment evaluations.
- Identify emerging technology and growth opportunities across targeted industries.
- Advise executive teams on market positioning and commercialization strategies.
Technical & Business Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive, engineering, product management, and innovation leaders.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams supporting strategic client initiatives.
- Develop thought leadership and market insights that strengthen WSP's position within the electrification market.
- Collaborate across WSP business units to provide integrated advisory solutions.

- Lead strategic pursuits, proposal development, and client presentations.
- Represent WSP at industry conferences, technical forums, customer events, and professional organizations.
- Leverage existing industry relationships to accelerate market penetration and revenue growth.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing consulting and technical advisory team.
- Build organizational capability in electrification, charging technologies, VAVE, product strategy, and mobility innovation.
- Establish methodologies, best practices, and technical frameworks that support scalable growth.
- Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, collaboration, and client success.
Performance Expectations

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in automotive engineering, electrification, product development, mobility technology, consulting, or related leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in:
- EV charging technologies
- Electrified powertrain systems

- Strategic planning
- Demonstrated experience leading product strategy and technology roadmap development.
- Strong understanding of OEM and Tier 1 supplier business models and product development processes.

- Established industry relationships within automotive, mobility, and technology sectors.
- Strong executive communication and client engagement skills.
- Ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, Technology Management, or related discipline.
- Experience supporting both OEM and Tier 1 automotive suppliers.
- Background in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and charging ecosystem development.
- Experience with battery systems, power electronics, propulsion controls, or energy management systems.
- Experience within motorsports, commercial vehicle, agriculture, construction, mining, or specialty vehicle industries.
- Demonstrated success building consulting teams, technical organizations, or innovation-focused business units.
- Track record of developing strategic partnerships and generating new business opportunities.
