WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer for our Roseville, CA office to join our Property & Buildings team. This is an exciting opportunity for a licensed Electrical Engineer with significant healthcare design experience who is seeking both technical leadership and business development responsibility within a growing healthcare practice.

This role will actively participate in the full project cycle with a focus on complex healthcare sector projects including hospitals, medical office buildings, outpatient facilities, surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, laboratories, and other critical healthcare environments from the design phase through final construction closeout.

Your Impact

• Lead electrical engineering design for complex healthcare facilities and multidisciplinary building projects.
• Coordinate, review, and approve electrical design plans ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Design and oversee power distribution systems, standby and emergency power systems, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage infrastructure.
• Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques throughout planning, conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and occupancy phases.
• Serve as Engineer of Record on applicable projects.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and client communications.
• Oversee and mentor electrical engineers, designers, and technical staff.
• Prepare and review calculations, specifications, reports, studies, and construction documentation.
• Collaborate with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, technology, and specialty disciplines.
• Manage relationships with healthcare clients, architects, contractors, and healthcare system stakeholders.
• Participate in business development activities including proposal development, interviews, client presentations, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Support recruiting, workforce planning, and succession planning efforts within the California Property & Buildings practice.
• Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders throughout the healthcare market.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct while adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years of relevant post-education electrical engineering experience.
• Extensive experience designing electrical systems for healthcare facilities.
• Strong understanding of California building codes, NEC, NFPA, OSHPD/HCAI requirements, and healthcare facility regulations.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary healthcare projects through all project phases.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, emergency power systems, lighting, and life safety systems.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and industry-standard electrical engineering software.
• Well-developed technical, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams and deliver projects safely, efficiently, and profitably.
• Existing healthcare client relationships and industry network within Northern California preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering.
• LEED AP accreditation.
• Healthcare design experience involving acute care hospitals, laboratories, surgery centers, and medical campuses.
• 5+ years of project management experience.
• Experience supporting business development and client growth initiatives.
• WELL AP or additional healthcare-focused certifications.
• Experience working with HCAI/OSHPD healthcare projects.
• 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $134,700 - $200,100

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
