Assistant Underwriter – Property
We are currently looking for a well organised and motivated individual to join our market-leading Property Underwriting team based in our Melbourne CBD office. You will be working on both Mid-Market and Large Corporate Property Insurance policies and be provided with training and guidance in developing your underwriting rationale to become an experienced member of the team. You should possess exceptional attention to detail and have the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation. Duties will include (but not limited to):
Accurate completion of premium and reinsurance calculations for processing.
To provide oversight and control of all processed premium for weekly reconciliation including any unclosed business.
Provide Underwriters with assistance on renewals and file preparation including technical pricing data completion.
Assist with the preparation and issuance of policy wordings, endorsements, premium calculations and tax allocations.
Preparation, maintenance and overview of underwriting files and slips.
Assist with reviewing quote opportunities across trading platforms for referral and discussion with the underwriting team.
Monitoring outstanding quotations and pending renewals, tracking and updating progress through maintenance of the renewal and quotation registers.
Respond to broker queries and requests.
Build relationships with HDI’s insurance partners including intermediaries and clients.
Co-Ordinate outstanding debtors and liaise with the Policy Operations and Credit Control Teams.
Create and maintain the electronic filing system.
Providing general administration and underwriting support nationally.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum 2 years general Insurance or Property experience preferred, but will consider relevant qualifications or other experience.
High level of numeracy and computer literacy required, demonstration of studies and grades achieved either at High School or University.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) demonstrated in current role.
Ability to show initiative and pro-activeness in the completion tasks.
Commenced or completed ANZIIF qualifications.
