Are you looking to launch your career in Fine Art & Specie Insurance?

We have a fantastic opportunity to join an international insurer and contribute to the growth of our Fine Art & Specie proposition in Europe as an Assistant Underwriter.

This will be your first step in working your way to become an established Underwriter and your role will consist of:

  • Initiation to risk analysis and underwriting knowledge.
  • Support the underwriting function in processing risk via internal tools, product governance reporting, data entry, general admin duties.
  • Understand the UW process.
  • Supporting the business development for the European region.
  • To provide administrative and technical support to the Fine Art & Specie underwriting team as required.
  • Administrative and Technical support includes but is not limited to the maintenance of files and the processing, recording of business accounts accurately and in a timely manner on the Company’s IT and administrative systems in accordance with processing standards and procedures.
  • Assisting the team in day-to-day ad hoc tasks when required (risk research, broker meetings, country overview reports etc. and providing updates to underwriters).

Key Responsibilities

Within the AU role you will be supporting the team in the daily business and your tasks will consist of:

  • Risk Assessment: Reviewing submissions, policy wordings, inspection reports, and loss history to determine the risk of specific accounts.
  • Collection Management: Processing frequent endorsements and change requests as collectors buy, sell, or loan pieces.
  • Research: Conducting specialized research on risks, such as country-specific reports for traveling exhibitions or tracking the provenance of high-value items.
  • Documentation & Issuance: Preparing policy documentation for senior sign-off and ensuring all records are complete and accurate on company IT systems.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Communicating with brokers to resolve outstanding information requirements or premium issues.

  • Basic knowledge of MS Powerpoint – creation of basic presentations, importing tables & reports from other areas
  • Organisational discipline with ability to work independently using initiative and without guidance
  • Regulatory and compliance awareness

Qualifications

  • Law/Economics/Art history

Experience

  • Basic Knowledge of Insurance preferred
  • 24 months previous office experience advantageous
