Saint Rose High School is seeking a passionate, organized, and energetic Assistant
Theater Director to support our growing theater program in Belmar, NJ. In this role, you
will work closely with the Lead Director to develop, rehearse, and execute theatrical
productions and practices.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring director, educator, or theater enthusiast
looking to gain hands-on experience in youth theater production within a supportive
community environment.
Commitment & Hours
Standard Weeks: 3–5 hours per week (primarily after-school rehearsals or
weekend workshops).
Production & Tech Weeks: Hours will increase up to 10+ hours per week during
technical rehearsals and scheduled performance dates.
Flexibility: Hours will vary based on the production calendar, show dates, and
rehearsal schedules in Belmar.
Director Support: Assist the Lead Director in staging, blocking, choreography, and
vocal rehearsals.
Rehearsal Management: Help manage student behavior, track attendance, and
ensure practices run smoothly and stay on schedule.
Production Coordination: Assist with backstage management, prop organization,
cue tracking, and communication with the stage crew during tech week and live
shows.
Student Mentorship: Give constructive feedback to student actors (youth and
teens) to help them develop their characters and stage presence.
Collaboration: Act as a reliable liaison between staff, student performers, and
parents.
Qualifications & Skills
Certification: A valid teaching certification or substitute teacher license is highly
preferred.
Background Check: Passing a mandatory criminal background check is required
prior to hiring due to working closely with minors.
Theater Experience: Previous experience in theater (acting, directing, stage
management, or teaching artistry) is highly preferred.
Passion for Education: Comfortable and enthusiastic about working with and
mentoring youth.
Reliability: Exceptional punctuality, strong organizational skills, and a reliable
work ethic.
Local Availability: Ability to easily commute to rehearsal and performance
spaces located in Belmar, NJ.
