TITLE: Assistant Theater Coach

REPORTS TO: The Principal or his/her designee, Head Coach

JOB GOAL: To assist the Head Theater Coach, to help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of the arts and communication, and an increased level of self-esteem.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Appropriate valid WV Teaching Certificate or Coaching Certificate
  • Thorough knowledge of coaching principles and practices
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial arrangements
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers, theater participants and administrators

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Coaches, under the direction of the head coach, individual and group participants in the skills necessary for achievement in Theater, including critiquing performances and editing pieces.
  • Assists with scheduling and running of rehearsals and practices.
  • Assist in enforcing discipline and appropriate behavior among participants.
  • Assists in overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the activity is being held.
  • Attend parent meetings as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Be familiar with and follow the guidelines established in Ohio County Board of Education Regulation 4020.01 Extra-Curricular Activities Assignments
  • Assume directorial duties for fall and spring productions and other duties assigned by the head coach.
