Role Purpose

The Assistant Technologist role provides consistent support to the Technical Team across a variety of product categories, working closely with Technologists on the product lifecycle and proactively managing quality assurance to ensure we achieve great products

Role Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Technical Support

  • Work closely with the Footwear and Sustainability techs to progress effective product development and proactively manage quality and chemical assurance.
  • Develop a strong awareness of NEXT WOB Technical standards and procedures, including the NEXT Code of Practice.
  • Proactively raise concerns regarding materials and quality issues, maintaining an awareness of the returns process.
  • Assist with product comparisons and benchmarking against competitors in line with industry innovation.
  • Complete fabric tests and advise on solutions for any failing fabrics.
  • Chase Scope & Transaction certificates ensuring they are on date and aligned to set deadlines.

Fit & Compliance Management

  • Attend fit sessions, sending out detailed comments to suppliers.
  • Follow sealing procedures and facilitate the process to ensure garments meet fit requirements.
  • Ensure all products are fit for purpose and meet all relevant Legal, Health, and Safety standards.
  • Carry out risk assessments to ensure overall product compliance and safety.
  • Clearly communicate any instances of non-compliance to the necessary internal teams and external suppliers.

Operational Coordination

  • Manage key dates and guidelines driven by the critical path.
  • Organise and support fit day reviews, including managing model bookings, invoices, and measurements.
  • Provide essential administrative support to the Technical Team, including managing department post.
  • Follow established policies and processes while making proactive suggestions for improvements.

Technical Requirements

  • A genuine passion to learn and develop within a Technical Team.
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable using various internal business systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written and verbal correspondence.
  • Exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Highly adaptable and able to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment.
