The job
The Operations Assistant Team Leader is primarily responsible in assisting the Team Leader where required in the day-to-day delivery of service provision, ensuring all operational and compliance targets are met.
Providing support for operational and clinical staff. Reporting daily activity to the UKEMS’s management.
At all times the post holder must ensure patient safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues and others by assessing risks and adopting safe working practices
Assisting in accurate communication at all times between all stakeholders and operational staff working at the site.
To contribute to the safe, timely and effective running of the daily operation of the division and vehicle fleet.
To cover road shifts within your scope of practice.
Key duties and responsibilities include-
Communicate with colleagues including -clinical staff, the training team, team leaders at other locations and the control team
Ensure crews are booked within the shift start time requirements, minimising any unnecessary down times throughout the shift
Provision of staff rotas plus the reporting of patient /journey details
Both office based and on shift.
Daily and weekly vehicle checks keeping accurate records and reporting any discrepancies
Random spot checks across the fleet with particular regard to internal and external cleanliness of the vehicle, health and safety equipment and necessary documents
Ensure our colleagues on the road understand their roles and are working within the clinical governance strategy ,promoting excellence in clinical practice in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and company guidelines
Assist Team Leader in maintaining audit schedules
Promote a supportive, fair and open culture that encourages and enables the site workforce to meet required performance standards
Meet Health and Safety legislation and move towards an environment where health and safety considerations are firmly embedded in the planning and decision making processes and the ‘culture’ of UKEMS
Promote, monitor and maintain best practice in Infection Control management
Promote and ensure compliance with equality and diversity legislation developing active commitment to the need to ensure equality of opportunity and the benefits of diversity.
To participate in UKEMS performance appraisal system ( self and your team ) to undertake any identified training and development related to the post.

About You
Your experience as assistant team leader will ideally have been obtained in a clinical or similar environment.
Have vision- recommending improvements to all aspects of our service
Be an effective communicator having the ability to engage with a wide audience of personnel
The ability to work under pressure / towards deadlines
You will be productive working on your own initiative and as part of a busy team
Outstanding organisational skills, our business relies on efficiency, process and procedure
IT skills - including word and excel
Solutions focused your ability to negotiate and be tactful and diplomatic will prove essential when managing challenging situations
Flexible and adaptable in your approach you will join a team of like minded individuals each striving to provide an outstanding service to all we engage with

A full clean driving licence is required
Ideally qualified to FREC 4 Level or above,

Formed in 2002, UKEMS started its journey by providing medical cover supporting local events.
As the company developed in the years that followed it branched out into other areas of healthcare.
UKEMS can support in providing the following services:
(PTS) Patient Transport- Our non-emergency patient transport service focuses on the individual’s needs.
A caring, personal service is available to all patients, accommodating wheelchair access and stretcher requirements.
We work with a number of NHS Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS Ambulance organisations to provide non-emergency patient transport for patients attending hospital appointments.
Secure Patient Transport - We provide a response service for the movement and care of people with mental health illness, managing vulnerable and challenging behaviour safely and with dignity and respect.
All transport requirements are met with highly trained, dedicated crews and vehicles to ensure a safe, comfortable and timely transfer of service users.
We have a variety of vehicle options available in this service ranging from people carrier to secure cell.
Urgent care - We have a dedicated service staffed and equipped to care for patients who need a higher level of care.
UKEMS contracts directly with the NHS and supports NHS ambulance services in this area.
A professional level of dedicated service is available for journeys between health care facilities, or from domestic and supported living establishments upon request.
Medical repatriation - For patients who face the unforeseen situation of falling ill or becoming injured abroad, our medical repatriation service provides the much-needed reassurance and service required.
Paramedic services to GP’s and external training services - UKEMS currently work with general practitioners who facilitate paramedics and other healthcare staff to assist in the day to day management of patients.
