The College of Business (CoB) at the University of New England (UNE) invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track Assistant Professor in Sport Leadership & Management and Outdoor Business & Innovation, beginning August 2027. We are seeking candidates with a doctorate or master’s degree in sports management, business, outdoor leadership or a closely related field (ABD considered), a strong record of teaching and thought leadership, and experience in the business of sports and/or outdoor recreation including work in industry, partnerships, a strong professional network.
This position will serve as a dual faculty line for both the Sports Leadership & Management and, Outdoor Business & Innovation programs. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in both programs for example: Introduction to Sports Management, Sports Marketing, Legal Issues in Sports and Recreation, Wilderness First Responder, Eco-Tourism. The position carries a 4-4 teaching load (four courses in the Fall semester and four courses in the Spring semester).
The College of Business prioritizes experiential learning, preparing students to apply their knowledge in practical settings. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to student engagement by creating dynamic, interactive learning experiences that foster critical inquiry, analytical thinking, and active participation. Experience creating or using Open Educational Resources and Open Access software is highly desirable and supports our commitment to zero-cost course materials.
This nine-month, teaching-track position offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with opportunities for summer teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and career advancement. The successful candidate will join a collegial, engaged faculty in a growing College of Business that is expanding its graduate, professional, and online offerings.
