
The Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Arabic, starting August 2026, for a one-year contract.
We seek a dynamic individual committed to innovative methods of teaching Modern Standard Arabic in the context of Arab-Islamic culture. Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in Modern Standard Arabic and an Arabic dialect; experience in proficiency-based, communicative methods of teaching Modern Standard Arabic; and thorough grounding in classical Arabic language (including syntax and morphology). Experience in proficiency testing is a plus.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in hand by Summer 2026 is preferred; advanced ABDs will also be considered.

The projected base salary range is $59,750.46-$66,389.40. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
