The School of Human Evolution and Social Change (SHESC) ( https://shesc.asu.edu) at Arizona State University (ASU) is inviting applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor position. This is an annually renewable, fiscal year (12 months), career-track, non-tenure eligible appointment with full benefits through ASU, including health insurance and paid vacation and holidays. The position is located at ASU’s Tempe campus. The Assistant Teaching Professor should be in residence in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area during the appointment, to maintain an active on-campus presence, engaging meaningfully with faculty and students, participating in School activities, and contributing to SHESC’s vibrant intellectual life. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, with some flexibility.
Under the leadership of SHESC’s Director, Professor Patrick Ryan Williams, the Assistant Teaching Professor will contribute to the instructional mission of SHESC through an 80% teaching load in the undergraduate degree programs (exact course load will be determined by the school director or their designee) and will maintain a service load of 20% that may include service on unit and/or college committees and supporting student organizations related to one or more of SHESC’s six areas of focus:
