About the Role
Work in a team classroom environment to supervise, teacher, nurture and care for preschool children ages 31 months- approximately 4 years old. Assist the head teacher in planning and implementing of daily activities and child management. This includes, but is not limited to: communicating with families about children's daily experience as well as their overall development, fulfilling state licensing requirements, meeting professional development requirements, and fostering a developmentally appropriate learning environment.
What You'll Do
- Support the mission and vision of Concordia
College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position. - Assist in planning, implementing and supervising a program of daily activities and child management principles- 90%
- Work with head teacher to execute curriculum themes and daily activities that are developmentally appropriate
- Prepare materials needed for daily activities with assistance from college students and other volunteers
- Maintain records of progress on each child’s development
and conduct periodic assessments as instructed by the head teacher - Provide developmentally appropriate guidance to promote self-esteem in each child
- Maintain an appropriate safe classroom environment (sanitize toys, room set-up, etc.
- Work closely with parents to promote their child’s development
- Encourage parent participation in program activities
- Communicate with parents about their child’s day (verbal or written) and at periodically scheduled conferences
- Demonstrate acceptance of varying parenting styles
- Plan and participate in special activities designed to promote family involvement with the Center
3. Attend staff meetings and other required training - 10%
- Complete certification in CPR and First Aid and renew as scheduled
- Complete required in-service training
- Attend workshops and conferences annually as required by the Department of Human Services licensing standards
- Complete a physical exam every two years

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four year degree in Early Childhood or a related field OR completed CDA or equivalent
- Full knowledge of the English language, grammar and punctuation
- Knowledge of customer service, child development and assessment, and Minnesota licensing standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule as needed
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
