Assistant Teacher - Daycare & Preschool

Location: The Learning Experience - Upper West Side, New York, NY

Pay: $19-$21 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Immediate Opening

The Learning Experience - Upper West Side is seeking a caring and dependable Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with young children and wants to build experience in a professional preschool environment. You'll work alongside experienced Lead Teachers to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom where children can learn, play, and grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom routines and learning activities
• Engage children through play, art, music, movement, stories, and hands-on experiences
• Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, transitions, and outdoor play as appropriate
• Support children's language, cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development
• Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance
• Help prepare classroom activities and learning materials
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators
• Provide classroom coverage and support as needed
• Follow applicable New York City childcare health, safety, and licensing requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or experience working with children preferred
• Early Childhood Education coursework or CDA is a plus
• Patient, dependable, energetic, and team-oriented
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Must meet applicable New York City childcare requirements
