Job Description

Full time opening for Assistant Teacher at our new Dirigo Drive location. Tax-exempt with Benefit eligibility.

Do you enjoy working with Kids in a classroom setting, we have a Full time opening for an Assistant teacher at our Brewer location Cactus Room.

The Assistant Teacher assists with children in the classroom, as well as helps to maintain all essential functions of the classroom such as cleanliness, client records, and provides supervision and oversight to preschool support teachers providing services within the classroom.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure daily implementation of classroom curriculum
  • Conduct the necessary tasks to open and close the classroom
  • Verify the proper completion of paperwork for each client as well as the classroom
  • Manage appropriate maintenance of the classroom
  • Manage scheduling and supervision of preschool support teachers.
  • Assure that daycare licensing rules and regulations are being followed at all times.

ADMINISTRATIVE OVERSIGHT

  • Communicate daily with teachers and parents via email and/or telephone.
  • Maintain classroom materials and necessary paperwork.
  • Assist with maintaining client files and records.
  • Participate in necessary client meetings.

LEADERSHIP

  • Participate in efforts to strengthen UCP’s reputation as being a preferred employer by fostering staff growth and celebration, strong supervision, guidance and support, and development and recognition.
  • Reinforce highly integrated communication and collaboration within and among the team.
  • Participate in a minimum of two events per year (fundraiser, community, promotional, etc.) to assist UCP in living up to its mission and/or meeting its organizational objectives.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Actively participate in professional development activities and trainings to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for work in the human services field.

DOCUMENTATION & WRITING

  • Complete documentation and writing responsibilities in a timely, accurate, actual, objective, detailed, and neat manner using correct spelling and grammar.
  • Review, sign, and document appropriate action on all reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years of age, ED Tech III (90+ college credits) Preferred.
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications within 60 days of hire. (agency provided)
  • Must obtain Safety Care certification within 30 days of hire. (agency provided)
  • Must obtain BHP certification within 12 months of hire. (agency provided)
  • Valid State of Maine driver license, reliable transportation with proof of registration and insurance, and willingness to use own transportation for work.
