The Assistant Swim Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the men’s and women’s intercollegiate swimming program at the NCAA Division III level. This includes recruitment, coaching, administrative duties, and fostering a positive team culture that aligns with the academic and athletic values of Plymouth State University.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assist in planning and running practices and swim meets
Provide individualized and group coaching to enhance athlete development and performance
Help with recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, LEC conference, and PSU rules
Encourage and promote academic success
Maintain equipment and assist with pool operations as needed
Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful team environment
Represent the team and institution at athletic, alumni, and fundraising events
Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Prior competitive swimming or coaching experience at the collegiate, club,or high school level
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Computer experience, knowledge of the Team Manager Program
Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with meet management software (e.g., Hy-Tek)
Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain
Experience recruiting at the collegiate level
Work Environment and Expectations:
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed
Commitment to fostering an environment that supports student-athletes’ academic and personal growth
Uphold the mission and values of NCAA Division III athletics
