Position Title: Assistant Supervisor

Salary Range: $100,000 - $100,000

Job Description:

The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for an Assistant Supervisor of Counseling in the Survivor Services Bureau (SSB). In this position, the Assistant Supervisor will work in collaboration with the SSB Chiefs, Directors and Supervisors, and is responsible for ensuring SSB staff provide a full range of services to all crime victims, witnesses and their families. These services may include short term counseling, crisis intervention, community referrals, orientation to the criminal justice system, case status updates, and court support. Services will be provided in different office locations such as, the Main Office downtown, the Harlem Office and/or the Washington Heights Office.

There may be opportunity to be selected to focus in the areas of; Child victims, Men of Color, Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI), Elder abuse, Sex Crimes and Human Trafficking.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • •Work collaboratively with the Chiefs, Directors and Supervisors to ensure SSB staff provides a full range of services to victims of crime.
  • Execute all duties in accordance with the SSB mission statement.
  • Carry a caseload and manage any and/or all levels of a case where senior level expertise is required and in the absence of Chiefs, Directors and Supervisors. Provide crisis intervention and support.
  • Assist with understanding the roles of outside agencies and liaise to identify and navigate resources available.
  • Assist with implementation and coordination of staff and intern professional development, trainings to ensure that policies and protocols are followed accurately.
  • Provide Clinical Supervision to SSB Counselors.
  • Represent DANY/SSB at trainings and presentations.
  • Serve as a back-up to staff schedule, and tasks as needed, including but not limit to last minute schedule changes and coverage resolution.
  • Handle heavy volume of crisis and information calls.
  • Ensure staff follow up contact with victims to monitor their connection to services.
  • Perform related administrative duties as assigned.

In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:

  • Master’s degree in social work and New York State LCSW
  • 1 year of Clinical Supervisory experience.

Preferred Requirements/Skills:

  • Written and oral Spanish, or Mandarin and or Cantonese fluency a plus.
  • ASL proficiency a plus.
  • SIFI certified/eligible a plus.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

  • Shifts could vary between, 9 am - 5 pm, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, 10 am - 6 pm.
  • Overtime may be required, including nights and weekends.

Additional Information:

  • Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
  • One (1) year commitment to the hiring unit.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
