Job Description

Wasatch Construction Partners builds high-quality residential communities and custom homes across the Utah Wasatch Front and the Spicewood Texas areas. We are known for disciplined scheduling, tight cost control, and a jobsite culture that holds trade partners and staff to a high standard of craftsmanship and accountability. As we grow our residential pipeline, we’re looking for a motivated Assistant Superintendent to support our field teams and develop into a future project leader.

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent in managing day-to-day construction activities on single-family, townhome, and multifamily residential jobsites, helping ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence. This is a hands-on field role designed to develop future superintendents, offering direct exposure to subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and quality control on active residential projects. The ideal candidate is organized, safety-minded, and eager to grow into greater field leadership responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Subcontractor Coordination

  • Assist the Superintendent with daily site supervision, trade sequencing, and coordination of subcontractor crews.
  • Conduct daily jobsite walkthroughs to confirm trade partners are staffed, staged, and working to plan.
  • Help resolve minor field conflicts and escalate scope, schedule, or safety issues to the Superintendent as needed.

Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Help enforce jobsite safety programs and PPE requirements, and participate in weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor work quality against plans, specifications, and Wasatch Construction Partners’ quality standards.
  • Assist with trade inspections, rough-in walks, and punch list creation and completion.
  • Support final walkthroughs and homeowner/ownership handoff on completed units.

Scheduling & Field Reporting

  • Track daily progress against the master schedule and flag potential delays early.
  • Assist with daily field reports, photo documentation, and jobsite logs.
  • Support short-term (2–3 week) look-ahead planning and material lead-time tracking.

Site Logistics & Organization

  • Coordinate material deliveries, staging, and site logistics to keep the jobsite organized and efficient.
  • Maintain site cleanliness, signage, and overall professionalism in accordance with company and jurisdictional standards.

Communication

  • Communicate field issues, schedule risks, and quality concerns promptly to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Interface professionally with subcontractors, inspectors, vendors, and homeowners/clients on-site.

Qualifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant coursework or certification in construction management is a plus.
  • 1–3 years of experience in residential construction, whether as a carpenter, laborer, field engineer, or similar hands-on role.
  • Basic understanding of residential building codes, construction sequencing, and jobsite safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret residential blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Comfortable using smartphone/tablet-based field tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to multiple jobsites. Must Live within a 60-mile radius of Spicewood, Texas.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with production or semi-custom homebuilding in the Utah / Wasatch Front market.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for coordinating with trade crews.

Key Competencies

  • Safety Mindset — Prioritizes jobsite safety and models compliance for trade partners.
  • Attention to Detail — Catches quality and schedule issues before they escalate.
  • Communication — Keeps the Superintendent and Project Manager informed and coordinates clearly with subcontractors.
  • Initiative & Growth Potential — Seeks out responsibility and is motivated to develop into a Superintendent role.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Primarily a field-based role requiring daily presence on active residential construction jobsites.
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders and stairs, and access all areas of a construction site.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally (materials, tools, samples).
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times on active jobsites.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions and standard construction site hazards.
  • Some early morning, evening, or weekend availability may be required during critical project milestones.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Wasatch Construction Partners offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off and holidays, and a vehicle/mileage allowance — along with a clear path for career growth into a Project Superintendent role, supported by ongoing training and certification opportunities.
