We are currently seeking a person who identifies strongly with our mission and core values to join our team as an Assistant Store Manager at our Base Supply Store. If you have an Associate's degree or higher and 1 to 3 years in supervisory role in retail, wholesale, or supply operation we would love to hear from you. This is an ideal role for someone who is a strong leader and problem solver, and who understands the intricacies of the supply chain. Must also be willing and able to learn to operate a forklift. Prior military and forklift experience is desirable!
Purpose:
The Assistant Manager provides support to the store manager, is involved in all the day-to-day processes that are carried out in the store while supervising store personnel.
Responsibilities:
Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers.
Develops key relationships to encourage customer loyalty.
Addresses Customer needs, special requirements or complaints in a timely manner.
Solicits opportunities for sales and revenue generation.
Establishes networks within community and participates in base community events to create goodwill.
Manages daily open order reports, works to resolve any errors or other problems.
Maintains inventory records and ensures timely replenishment.
Submits requests for supplies and equipment to manager for approval.
Supervises cycle counts, reconciles differences and recommends adjustments in a timely manner.
Maintains awareness of products and their intended use.
Maintains merchandise in an organized manner.
Follows merchandising standards when setting store shelves.
Assures shelf tags are accurate and displayed appropriately.
Assures inventory transfers are correctly recorded in the inventory management system.
Maintains building security by assuring all exit points are locked or manned during business hours.
Monitors building exterior, walk ways and parking lots for cleanliness.
Immediately reports any interior or external damage to Store Manager.
Audit work processes and ensure employees tasks are performed efficiently.
Delegates and assign tasks as needed.
Communicates effectively with store personnel, management and BSC administrative staff.
Assists Store Manager in the preparation and giving of performance reviews for assigned employees.
Keeps management informed regarding operational issues and customer concerns.
Evaluates sales reports.
Ensure proper billing practices are adhered too and have received proper payment for all merchandise leaving the store.
Keep documentation filed and archived per record retention policies.
Complies with all LH and store policies and procedures and BSC Best Practices standards.
Complies with safety requirements.
Complies with Federal and local legal requirements.
Complies with base rules and contractual requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Associates Degree preferred.
1 to three 3 years in supervisory role in retail, wholesale, or supply operation.
Previous military service a plus.
Fork Lift certification preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs using safe lifting techniques.
Must be able to work on concrete floors that may be uneven. Standing, stooping, bending, stretching throughout shift.
Must be able to safely use warehouse equipment, climb ladders and load and unload delivery vehicles.
Must be able to communicate in a pleasant, polite, and professional manner with both customers and employees.
Proficient with basic math.
Proficient with MS Office.
Ability to build basic spreadsheets with simple formulas in Excel.
Ability to motivate to employees.
Must have excellent analytical and sound decision making.
Strong administrative and managerial skills and abilities.
Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills.
Knowledge of inventory management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication; Clear written, verbal skills with solid English language fluency.
Ability to network with customers, suppliers and peers.
Commitment to Lighthouse mission.
Ability to work schedule as assigned.
Desire to participate and engage in community volunteer work, etc.
