Job Summary

The Assistant Store Director – Visual Merchandising (ASD-VM), in partnership with the Store Director, provides leadership for the overall performance and operation of the store while serving as the primary leader for visual merchandising and store presentation.

The ASD-VM is responsible for building, developing, and retaining a high-performing and diverse team while driving sales, per cap, capture rate, net income, payroll, inventory, guest service, and operational objectives. This role translates Event Network’s vision and business strategies into consistent execution through leadership, coaching, accountability, and strong partnership with the Store Director and venue partners.

As the store’s visual merchandising leader, the ASD-VM owns the execution and sustainability of visual standards, product presentation, space planning, merchandising strategies, and display maintenance. The position uses sales and performance data to identify opportunities to improve product productivity, maximize selling space, enhance the guest experience, and drive financial results.

The ASD-VM also supports daily store operations, including opening and closing, cash handling, register functions, inventory control, loss prevention, team development, and resolution of guest concerns.

Leadership and Team Member Results

Partners with the Store Director to lead, develop, and retain a high-performing and diverse store team.

Communicates clear expectations and holds team members and self accountable to Event Network standards of performance and behavior.

Identifies, develops, and leverages talent to support short- and long-term business objectives and build a strong internal talent pipeline.

Coaches and develops team members in guest engagement, selling behaviors, operational execution, product knowledge, and visual merchandising.

Serves as the store’s primary leader for developing visual merchandising capabilities across the team.

Maximizes individual and team performance through ongoing coaching, recognition, accountability, and the Company’s performance management processes.

Creates a positive learning environment by modeling Event Network’s Core Values and Company Culture.

Recognizes and rewards behaviors that align with Event Network’s values and business objectives.

Resolves team member and guest concerns in partnership with the Store Director and Human Resources as appropriate.

Builds strong relationships across the store, venue partnership, and Support Services Center to support business initiatives and growth.

Actively pursues opportunities for continued professional development.

Visual Merchandising and Store Presentation

Serves as the store’s primary leader and subject matter resource for visual merchandising, product presentation, and space planning.

Leads the execution and maintenance of visual merchandising directives, planograms, presentation standards, and seasonal initiatives communicated by Store Leadership and the Support Services Center.

Identifies product presentation opportunities that enhance the store environment, extend the venue experience into retail, maximize selling space, and improve sales, capture rate, average dollar sale, and per cap performance.

Uses sales, department, product, and merchandising performance data to identify opportunities and improve product productivity.

Leads space planning and merchandising strategies across the store and applicable exhibit or satellite retail locations.

Ensures merchandise is presented according to established standards while adapting presentation to business trends and guest behavior when appropriate.

Develops and trains team members to maintain visually compelling stores consistent with Event Network standards.

Ensures visual standards are maintained throughout the business day through replenishment, recovery, product placement, display maintenance, and ongoing merchandising.

Partners with Store Leadership and Purchasing teams to communicate product trends, opportunities, and guest feedback.

Maintains a clean, organized, safe, and visually compelling shopping environment.

Business and Financial Results

Partners with the Store Director to achieve sales, per cap, capture rate, net income, payroll, inventory, and expense goals.

Uses business reporting and performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and actions that improve store results.

Drives sales through effective merchandising, product placement, team coaching, guest engagement, and execution of company initiatives.

Identifies opportunities to maximize sales productivity while managing expenses within established guidelines.

Collaborates with Store Leadership to optimize payroll utilization based on business needs.

Supports inventory accuracy, shrink reduction, and loss prevention strategies and ensures compliance with required standards and audits.

Monitors merchandising performance and adjusts product placement and presentation based on business trends and available inventory.

Supports register and cash wrap functions, including returns, price overrides, special transactions, cash balancing, and safe procedures as authorized.

Works assigned schedule and maintains flexibility based on business and operational needs.

Store Operations and Compliance

Partners with the Store Director in executing short- and long-term store business strategies and priorities.

Communicates and drives Event Network’s strategic direction and ensures store initiatives are executed and sustained.

Supports daily store operations and assumes leadership responsibility in the Store Director’s absence as assigned.

Performs opening and closing procedures and serves as a leader on duty.

Ensures team members are properly trained to deliver a consistent, knowledgeable, efficient, and engaging guest experience.

Supports inventory control, loss prevention, safety, cash management, and operational compliance.

Ensures compliance with Company policies, procedures, safety standards, and dress code requirements.

Responds to operational and business communication in a timely and professional manner.

Maintains strong knowledge of the venue, exhibits, programs, events, products, and partnership priorities.

Completes and supports all required operational, leadership, product knowledge, and merchandising training.

Guest and Partner Results

Leads a culture of exceptional guest service and ensures team members consistently deliver Event Network’s guest service standards.

Serves as a role model for creating welcoming, engaging, and memorable guest experiences.

Responds to and resolves guest concerns with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment.

Develops and maintains strong relationships with venue partners and key stakeholders.

Builds a network of relationships throughout the venue partnership to support long-term business success.

Shares guest, partner, product, and market insights with Store Operations, Purchasing, and other appropriate business partners.

Ensures the retail environment is clean, organized, safe, accessible, and ready for guests.

Participates in Company, venue, community, and philanthropic initiatives as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years retail management experience; high-volume ($10M - $15M) and multi-unit retail experience preferred.

Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in a guest-focused retail environment.

Strong visual merchandising background with demonstrated knowledge of product presentation, space planning, visual standards, and sales-driving merchandising strategies.

Proven ability to use sales and performance data to identify opportunities and make effective business decisions.

Strong understanding of retail operations, including sales, payroll, inventory control, cash management, loss prevention, and guest service.

Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and hold team members accountable.

Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on store execution in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal teams and external venue partners.

Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods as required.

 The Assistant Store Director must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
