Job Description

Do you love working with kids and thrive in a fast-paced, team-driven environment? Minnetonka Community Education is hiring Assistant Site Supervisors for the Explorers before- and after-school childcare program. This is a year-round, full-time role where no two days look exactly alike. You will help lead a team, build relationships with kids and families, and make a real impact in your community every single day. An early summer start may be available on a straight shift, with the formal program start aligned to fall training week, August 24–28, 2026.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Support the Site Supervisor in the daily operation of the Explorers program.
  • Step into a lead supervisory role overseeing Lead Instructors, Program Leaders, Program Assistants, and Behavior Assistants when the Site Supervisor is out.
  • Develop enriching activities and program goals rooted in the Creative Curriculum framework.
  • Build strong communication with staff, families, and school personnel.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging environment for children.
  • Participate in staff development and ongoing training.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS or AA or two years of college in a related field with 18 months of experience in school-age care.
  • Evidence of successful experience working in a team setting.
  • Evidence of successful experience in a childcare or educational setting for preschool-aged children.
  • Evidence of skills in using technology in curriculum.
  • Evidence of successful experiences with inclusion initiatives.
  • Evidence of strong child and parent relationships.
  • Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification; must complete CCAP-required training prior to first day and required staff development hours annually.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision with demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, coworkers, and the general public.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Starting at $23.64/hr + $0.60 split shift differential (effective July 1, 2025).
  • Increasing to $24.35/hr + $0.60 split shift differential effective July 1, 2026.
  • Medical and dental benefits are eligible.
  • Eligible for Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) in accordance with Minnesota law.

Location & Shift Times:

  • Groveland Elementary or Excelsior Elementary
  • Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.
  • Split shift (school year): 6:30–9:30 AM and 1:00–6:00 PM.
  • Summer start option available: straight shift (hours TBD).
  • Target start: fall training week, August 24–28, 2026.
