Introduction
Jim Pattison Volvo Cars North Vancouver has a new opportunity for an Assistant Service Manager to support our Fixed Operations team! As an integral part of our team, you will have the opportunity to showcase your leadership skills, drive operational excellence, and ensure top-notch customer satisfaction.
This role is ideal for an experienced dealership professional who understands the operational flow between Service Advisors and Technicians and is motivated by improving efficiency, customer satisfaction, and departmental performance.
Schedule: This is a full-time, permanent role of 40 hours per week.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on experience.

This role reports to the Fixed Operations Manager of the dealership.

A day in the Life
The Assistant Service Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily service department workflow, supporting advisor-technician coordination, monitoring warranty administration, and driving operational performance metrics including:
• Shop efficiency and productivity
• CSI performance (above national benchmarks)
• Warranty receivables within 90 days
• Repair Order (RO) management and carryover control
• Technician certification and training compliance
This role operates at the intersection of people leadership, operational accountability, and manufacturer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily workflow between Service Advisors and Technicians, ensuring shop efficiency, productivity, and smooth service operations.
• Manage repair orders, carryovers, and internal work orders while resolving customer or operational issues.
• Submit and monitor warranty claims, review aged receivables, and maintain accurate timekeeping and performance reporting.
• Liaise with manufacturer partners (e.g., Volvo Canada) on escalated cases and ensure technician/advisor training and certification compliance.
• Maintain safety standards, WHMIS requirements, and provincial inspection compliance, while supporting shop equipment readiness.
• Lead and support a team of 10–12 employees, participating in hiring, coaching, and performance management, fostering a collaborative and solutions-focused work environment.
What We re Looking For
Required:
• Minimum 2 years of dealership service management or assistant management experience
• Prior experience in an automotive dealership
• Strong working knowledge of CDK
• Demonstrated experience managing warranty processes and service reporting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
• Experience with Volvo systems and procedures
• Experience with X-Time and manufacturer portals
• Proven record of improving shop efficiency and CSI metrics
• Experience supervising 6+ employees in a service environment
