Job Description

OF ROLE

The Assistant Security Manager supports the Assistant Director of Safety and Security in safeguarding the hotel, its guests, team members, contractors and assets by ensuring a safe, secure and compliant operating environment. This role is responsible for supervising the daily security operations, coordinating emergency preparedness, maintaining regulatory compliance, and leading the Security team to deliver exceptional service while protecting the integrity of the hotel.

Working closely with all operational departments, government agencies and external stakeholders, the Assistant Security Manager ensures security procedures, fire safety standards and emergency response plans are effectively implemented while fostering a proactive culture of safety, vigilance and service excellence.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities of the Assistant Security Manager are summarised below; however, the list is not exhaustive.

SECURITY OPERATIONS

• Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Security department to ensure the safety and security of guests, team members, visitors and hotel assets.

• Supervise Security Officers and coordinate daily deployments, patrols and operational assignments.

• Conduct regular patrols of guest floors, public areas, back-of-house facilities, offices, loading bays, car parks and perimeter areas.

• Monitor CCTV systems, access control systems, alarms and security equipment to ensure proper functionality.

• Ensure effective key control procedures are maintained across all hotel departments.

• Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies and guest assistance requests.

• Maintain effective communication with all operational departments to ensure security requirements are met.

SAFETY, FIRE & EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

• Support the implementation and maintenance of hotel emergency response procedures.

• Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, workplace safety requirements and local legislation.

• Conduct regular inspections of fire safety equipment, emergency exits and evacuation routes.

• Participate in fire drills, emergency exercises and crisis management planning.

• Assist in maintaining the hotel's emergency response plans and business continuity procedures.

• Ensure all Security Officers are fully trained in emergency response protocols.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT & INVESTIGATIONS

• Investigate security incidents, accidents, thefts, suspicious activities and guest complaints.

• Prepare accurate incident reports and maintain complete investigation documentation.

• Follow up on reported incidents and recommend preventive measures.

• Liaise with law enforcement agencies, emergency services and regulatory authorities where required.

• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive security matters.

TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

• Assist in supervising, coaching and developing the Security team to deliver operational excellence.

• Conduct departmental briefings, shift handovers and operational updates.

• Monitor team performance and provide ongoing coaching and support.

• Ensure Security Officers maintain professional appearance, conduct and grooming standards.

• Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.

• Foster teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement within the department.

TRAINING & SECURITY AWARENESS

• Coordinate security awareness programmes for all hotel team members.

• Conduct regular training on security procedures, emergency response, fire safety and workplace safety.

• Ensure all departments understand their security responsibilities and emergency procedures.

• Promote a strong culture of safety and vigilance throughout the hotel.

COLLABORATION & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

• Work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage and other departments to ensure safe hotel operations.

• Coordinate security arrangements for VIP arrivals, large events, conferences and special functions.

• Support operational departments during emergencies and major incidents.

• Maintain positive working relationships with government agencies, regulatory authorities and emergency services.

ADMINISTRATION & REPORTING

• Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, patrol logs, key control and security reports.

• Monitor departmental records to ensure compliance with hotel policies and statutory requirements.

• Assist in preparing departmental reports, risk assessments and operational summaries.

• Monitor security equipment maintenance schedules and report defects promptly.

• Support departmental audits and compliance inspections.

COMPLIANCE & SAFETY

• Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, security procedures and applicable legislation.

• Promote safe working practices and identify potential security or safety risks.

• Support workplace health and safety initiatives across the hotel.

• Ensure proper handling of confidential information and security documentation.

• Perform any other duties or special projects as assigned by the Security Manager or General Manager.

EXPECTATIONS

The Assistant Security Manager is expected to:

• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and sound judgement in all situations.

• Lead by example while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and guest service.

• Remain calm, decisive and solution-oriented during emergencies.

• Build strong working relationships across all hotel departments and external agencies.

• Communicate effectively with guests, team members and management.

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive matters.

• Uphold NoMad Singapore's values, service philosophy and commitment to operational excellence.

• Diploma or Degree in Security Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration or a related discipline preferred.

• Minimum 3–5 years of security experience within the hospitality industry, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role

• Strong knowledge of hotel security operations, emergency response procedures and fire safety regulations.

• Experience liaising with government authorities, law enforcement and emergency services.

• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent investigative, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Certified First Aider and Fire Safety Manager certification are advantageous.

• Proficiency in CCTV systems, access control systems and Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to remain composed under pressure and make sound operational decisions.

• Previous luxury hotel or pre-opening experience is advantageous.
